Any of the above happening with your guitar or bass rig, or someone else's you're trying to record? Wouldn't it be great if there were tricks to eliminate these problems cheaply? SHARE! I'll start. An old braided 3 conductor extension cord (you can feel the braids inside, most were made like this in the 90s) coiled up and put your leads/cables through it. Zap. Attachments:

99% of the problems I've had in the studio were poorly kept cables that have frayed grounds or corroded ground connections or something like single-coil players standing in just the right spot in front of their amps.

I had a Lab Series way, way back. It was a nice amp until it started smoking. I'd put a towel or something over the music stand though, those Manhattan stands can ring like a bell.

Wish I still had my Lab Series. Traded it for who-knows-what-way-back-when.

I've occasionally gone to balanced power to calm down very noisy Marshall's that picked up everything between here a Saturn. Not inexpensive though.....

And when you tried to tell it it was too young to smoke it farted at you?
