What are your favorite/reference tracks and albums in the genre of "vocals drenched in reverb" 80s British/Euro/Aussie Synth and Dream pop? You know, that ultra-dense, Lexicon 224-era sound. Here are mine:
Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Head Over Heels, pretty much anything from the Big Chair album Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas (especially the intro before the drums kick in) Ultravox - Vienna Wham! - Careless Whisper A Ha - Take on Me

My son (5yo) got really into the video for The Outfield's "Your Love" a few months back (thankfully he has no idea what the song is actually about). He really liked the Steinberger guitar in the video. I had forgotten how pronounced the delay was on the lead vocal. Very cool.

Not one of my favorite snare sounds on that record but that vinyl gets spun once a week here. My boys (5yo and 7yo) love that record. Great references by bossanova. George Michael left us way too soon and was one of the all-time greats.

Pandora (For Cindy) – Cocteau Twins is the ultimate dream pop vocal in my book
West End Girls – Pet Shop Boys.
Dancing with tears in my eyes – Ultravox is another U.vox number that is also displaying a typical 1980s vocal doubling in the chorus.
The Power of Love – Frankie goes to Hollywood, if drenched in reverb is a goal (nice song as well).
Wide Open Road – The Triffids, if including Australia was a point.
Another very 1980s synth pop vocal trick is the Harmonizer up/down&short delay trick. Rio – Duran Duran might be a suitable exhibit.

George Michael left us way too soon and was one of the all-time greats. He really was. I only learned in the past year how he was responsible for much of the songwriting and arranging on his records even though he didn’t read music or really play an instrument. He just described or sung to his producers and other musicians to let them know what he wanted to hear. In the case of Last Christmas, he also played everything, though somewhat laboriously. What a phenomenal talent.

Oh! And how could I forget:
Someone Somewhere (in Summertime) – Simple Minds, or anything else from the New Gold Dream album.
But maybe don't use it as a bass drum reference.

What a phenomenal talent. He's a desert island talent for me. As a metal head growing up, blew my mind how good he was. His voice was so strong and so unique. Just a talented, gifted soul who definitely left his mark. Last Christmas is a great tune! Was always impressed by it as well.

Outstanding vocals, German Synth-Pop group Alphaville with Forever Young. My mentor is one of the writers, Mr Golds vocal work is breathtaking, listen closely, and you have the feeling his voice is in the middle... but over your head...

Grimes - Visions album. It's more new but it's still sort of in this zone. And definitely drenched in reverb.

A friend turned me on to this track a while back. Captured a modern version of the 80's vibe pretty well I thought:

A modern band to listen to is DREAMCAR. That's some good stuff for sure. Dig the mixes. Interesting where the vocal sits at times. Digging it though.

A modern band to listen to is DREAMCAR. Yesssssss. One of the coolest projects Davey Havok has been involved with in recent years IMO. I'm not too well-versed on actual 80s music, but here are a few songs I've always loved with really cool vocal reverb: I think this one was released in 1991, but close enough

I need something more. Something about it just doesn't live up to the musical/mix presentation. The 80's vibe is killer and the mixes sound great for sure.

There's an old thread somewhere on the purple site where William Wittman talked about The Outfield records and the massive stacks of vocals and guitars. He actually played and sang a lot on that record, along with the very talented band members.
