I saw that title at the purple place and threw up a little. People have lost their minds. That’s all.

Low pass at 15K. Add a tilt filter that reduces frequencies in a linear way starting at 200Hz and finishing about 2dB down at 15K. Add harmonic saturation, about 5%.
It's like the 90's all over again!

my 32bit pci m-audio 1010LT is rocking hard as we speak - ADK converter chips circa 2005? I have not experienced one of these things failing to work they are solid all the time
Classic vintage AD converter sound right there baby but it might be too modern for some

Personally, I miss the sound of 8 Track. 8 tracks ruled. You could listen to two songs at the same time if you didn’t have a matchbook that you could wedege in the tape slot to keep the tape tight against the playback heads.

Does this mean I can sell my "vintage" Session 8 and Digi 001 units for big bucks now?

12 bit EMU converters are where it's at. The 16bit Roland converters were pretty cool as well. Lexicon conversion on the 480L were grainy in a beautiful way. Just like pristine mic pre's are not always desirable, so goes conversion. 12 bit is pretty freaking cool for lo fi stuff.

I worked at Optical Media International where we built CD-ROM interfaces and sound libraries for the Emulator II, Emax, and Emulator III (16-bit, ooooh) samplers. Fun stuff, and the EMU folks threw good house parties.

Will I rue the day I threw out my old Aardvark Q10? Only if they came out with working drivers for it someday.

Just like pristine mic pre's are not always desirable, so goes conversion. 12 bit is pretty freaking cool for lo fi stuff. The grit, grain, and in your face qualities were from the insane truncation. They have some weird warmth from resistor based designs where not everything was matched well and shit anti aliasing filters. That’s how your 80s and 90s snare samples got that way. PSP has a 12-bit sampler emulation in Infinistrip that’s awesome for it. It’s one of their coolest plugs yet you have to buy the whole strip to get it. Same with Goodhertz Megaverb but it’s missing some of the cool midiverb delays but the other Alesis plugs aren’t even close to giving you the grain, grit and that wash over the sound. Megaverb gets closer to the 80s verb sound than any other plug to me. The UAD and Relab lexicons don’t have the grain “embedded” with the sound and sound like a special effect. Honestly, Waves L1 dug in a bit more than barely audible does similar things in a more modulated way. Molot has a “lofi” button because the years of trashing L1 and L2 the TDR guys did and they wanted to prove it. Sidechain bit crushed to 8-bit. Audio path to 12-bit. Random ass holds so it functions more like a chattering gate and a leveler than a compressor. Still it’s better behaved than like L1 and L2.

I was thinking that classic Digi 888 16 bit or better still the White version that are labeled Avid! The true sound of the 90’s! In reality my Radar V Gently Weeps.
