This is at the now close Systems Two studios in NYC. Any idea what it is? Just a curiosity.

Wow, that was fast, thanks! They did a lot of jazz there and I think it sounded fantastic. I wonder what the guts of the otari were.

As I understand it, they are pretty clean sounding. The automation was pretty advanced for the price point.

As I understand it, they are pretty clean sounding. The automation was pretty advanced for the price point. I'd agree. The console and channels themselves didn't really push character so much as the processing from the console. Having usable EQ and VCA dynamics on each channel... which I think is standard to the Concept? I don't remember.
Pretty cool consoles, but I think I liked them more for their functionality and flexibility in hindsight.
edit: I should actually mention, I learned the trade on a Status and Concept, so I may consider this more "baseline" in terms of sound than it actually is.

They had one of those at Ultrasuede Studio. Along with the 24 track tape, they gave it up for hybrid.

Otari bought sound workshop so at first they were basically sound workshop 34 series consoles and then they upgraded them from there
