I went up and visited with John Peluso for a few hours last week. What a smart, thoughtful, and genuine guy. I was dropping off a U87 capsule for re-skinning and ended up going home with one of his P-49s. Here's a demo video comparing it with his P87.
I really dig the 49! It seems to be, perhaps, his best design yet.

When I was doing a lot of work for Compass Records Peluso sent pretty much all their line of microphones for us to try and the 49 was definitely my favorite

As I said on FB and YouTube, I am definitely a 49 guy. I always wondered how the Peluso P49 compared with the AA CM49.
This is still my favorite clip of the P49:

What a great performance and recording - what's the guitar mic. What i find interesting is the lack of obvious cancellation with the two mics running. Chers, Ross

Peter Mulvey would sound good through a string and a tin can. Serious writing and performing chops. Nice guy too.
I did like the 49 in Dan's video. I thought the 87 had a bit more sparkle and the 49 a bit more solid fundamentals. I guess it's just what suits you.

The P87’s sibilance on the word “set (me free)” around the 0:50 mark was a notable. The 49 handled it nicely.
