Yes. For those who INSIST on using them cause they read it on the internet. For my money, there's a dozen better choices, as I hate the bleed sound using 421's. Back to the RE20, it's def a good utility mic to have around if you have a few hundred to spare. yeah I prefer C414s myself on toms. But I have heard and gotten great results myself from 421s on toms. I think in general its an overrated mic riding on the coat tails on the OG 421s which were much better then the II's available today. How do the OG grey 421’s sound? I’ve always wondered about the difference. They have different magnets right?

Love them for sampling toms!! EVs have better rejection IME.
