Coming soon: 500 series thumb screws. No washers needed with these. The screw has an 82 degree slope that fits perfectly into the counter sync on 500 series faceplates. Will be offering these in 12 packs of black zinc and stainless steel. Would love to hear what color you guys would want if you picked up a pack. Attachments:

Black. However… I posted about 500 Series rack screws earlier this year. I asked if there was a thread standard. It turns out there is not. I have Heritage, Lindell, Fredenstein and Radial 500 Series chassis. The Radial screws are different thread from the other three. So… What’s the thread of your new screw (which is a terrific idea IMO)? Metric or US? You might want to offer both. And… As I said in the old thread, I have a boatload of black metric that fit the rest. If you need a few. PM me. And finally… If you buy a used chassis, ask the seller to include the screws.

500 series screws are usually 4-40. At least every one that I've used has been. 4-40 thumbscrews are available just about everywhere you can find fasteners.

I've had CAPI, API, Purple Sweet 10, Heritage and Radial racks. All took the same screws. I *think* (assumed) they were 4-40's. It's possible that the radial came with it's own screws and I used those, but I generally drop one or two along the way and reach for one of the dozen or so random screws that are always laying around. I've also used Radial's thumb screws (silver) in CAPI racks and others. I've stripped a bunch of rack rail screws, but never stripped a 500 rack screw.
Silver or Black seems to be the best colors. I'm kind of ambivalent about them, but if the price was right, I might buy 100 or so.

Currently, we are looking to price a pack of 12 at at $14.99. Could probably work out a bulk deal if you were wanting to pick up a large quantity.

We will currently be offering them in 4-40 as that is what most major manufacturers come with. We may carry M3 down the road if we find enough people request that thread size.

My Heritage is an OST-4. It takes M3, not 4-40. Who knows why. I’m guessing your Heritage is one of the bigger models, Dr Bill? So for reference, my list is: CAPI, API, Purple, Radial and (large?) Heritage = 4-40 Fredenstein, Lindell, Heritage OST-4 = M3

If I only had one rack I might consider it - but I'd need over 150. I only have one rack that gets things pulled regularly - and that one already has Radial thumb screws. Cheers,

My only concern, and this comes from buying most of my screws from non audio sources is how well the slot for the screw driver holds up, I have seen way to many get torn up when over tightened and then the screw cuts the hell out of your fingers ( not as big a deal for you normal people who can feel in your fingers but when your Purple turns red…) Tapered head is awesome but I would still use a small neoprene washer.

The idea is you'd finger tighten and only use a flat head if you want to tighten it down that extra 5%. In regards to a washer, It wont fit super well because of the counter sync. The screw will sit proud off the faceplate if you use a washer. Definitely more than welcome to do that if it doesn't bother you though. I am uploading a side view of the screw to show the counter sync more clearly. (New image added to top of thread)
