We were talking about these in another thread. They are discounted everywhere it seems. I just got a 2TB for 200 on Amazon.
Going to put all my verb impulses and sample banks on it to save my M1 mini drive space.

M1 mini is USB-a so will you need a converter ?

it’s USB-c not Thunderbolt, speeds will be fast enough ? 10gb/s bus speed for USB-c which still exceeds the M1 SSD read/write max of around 4gb/s total.
OWC had a drive that touted 2000 mb/s but it was much more expensive. This drive is over 1000 mb/s R/W. Which is approx the same as my Samsung internal SSD's that I ran VI's off for some years.

M1 mini is USB-a so will you need a converter ? M1 mini is, in addition to the USB-A ports, USB-C(USB4)/TB 3 which are both 40gb/s. They are dual purpose ports. I have a usb C drive connected to one for my backup of the OS and my TB interface on the other.

Guess that won't work with USB-2?

Guess that won't work with USB-2? USB is generally very good about being backward compatible. 2.0 speed maxes at 480 mb/s which is slower than the drives throughput i/e a bottleneck. If it's only reading from the drive, you'll only lose 70 ish mb/s read speed, on paper. But it should be compatible with a simple usb C to A connector. Some drives come with both cables, I don't know about this one...
EDIT: this drive comes with a USB-C cable with an A type adapter. So it can run USB 3.2 or C. If it connects to a 2.0 port, it should work, just slower.

These look good I thought too, after John mentioned it earlier and I researched my choices a little to fit the M1 Pro I plan to buy after January 1.
I was tempted to try the Assemble the super fast SSD ones yourself in a enclosure but decided to let more time pass and options evolve for one of those between warranty length and potential heat concerns......and I chose instead the 2TB Pro version of this that is supposed to be up to 2000MB/s for $299 5 yr warranty

Nice, prices up here are 1/3 more, am thinking about the 1tb as its only around $150 and I don’t have large libraries.

You know, in the spirit of the heavy discount, I just canx the extreme and went with the pro as well. 2TB at 2gb/s will last me for VI's and impulses for a long, long time.
Thanks.

EDIT, just changed my order to 1TB. I'm not THAT much of a VI user...
