Bought it. It’s dope. Sounds sick pushed into the red. Better than the overpriced VSM-4. Not as good in the red as Tupe or some Fuse plugs but more flexible and different. I like it better than the 2C but Tupe more than both for tubes. Tape is decent. Not as good as Satin but wah better than average and very useful if you don’t want the noise or don’t want to stick it on 2 bus
This is sick. PSP is sick and super underrated. This is as sick as Infinistrip, E27, EMT 2445, Lexicon Delay, and Vintage Warmer.

I'm loving PSP's Saturator too - it's just so tasteful, even if you abuse it, and it adds that subtle 3d-ness that so many people like Like Dan I've found I prefer it to Fuse Audio's VPRE-2C (it sounds more 'musical' to me at more extreme settings), but I'm still exploring all the options, as it's SO versatile. The Ram distortion mode also offers some unique sounds that I've not heard before. Martin

And yes the old saturator was dope too a little went a long way...

And yes the old saturator was dope too a little went a long way... It’s apparently a ground up redo… with a new GUI 😉 This is a cut/paste of what they said about it “ About two years ago, we decided it was time to reintroduce this concept and bring it up to modern standards, as well as use this opportunity to implement what we’ve learned in the last few decades of plug-in development. During the long months of the development cycle, it became apparent to us that each part of its algorithms had to be written from scratch, or at least seriously redesigned based on what we’ve learned in our DSP escapades in the last 20 years. We didn’t want to simply copy the older engines, and we quickly realized this was time for a total refresh of one of our most lauded plug-ins while still keeping true to its roots. By extending the development process and critically analyzing all we had learned, not only would be be able to address some of the original’s weaknesses; we could adopt support for retina screens, design scalable interfaces, and introduce oversampling support up to a whopping 384Mhz for the most pristine sonic quality available! With changes comes compromise though - in many cases, we realised that keeping backwards compatibility was no longer possible due to the range of changes to virtually every aspect of the plugin and the number of new parameters to add even more detailed control that wasn’t possible before. By this point, we realized we could further fine-tune the plug-in by refreshing every single algorithm inside of PSP Saturator to ensure it was the best possible form of saturation no matter what flavor you choose. With the support of top mixing engineers and producers, and a relatively long beta process, we meticulously refined each algorithm to win the hearts (and more importantly, ears) of some of the most discerning and demanding users in the industry.”

Thanks for the tip on this ! - purchased. I must admit Dan's approval tipped me over / as observed, a hard man to please with the audio quality of plug ins I have avoided almost all saturation plug ins waiting for the next generation with LOTS of control (Plus PSP Saturator is a realistic price !) Anyone have a vague comparison to FF Saturn2 ?

Looking off the road, you can find a few smaller dev. Doing great saturation tools. Or just doing that preamp color you love .... it's insane what they can do in plug in today.

So True ! about 15 years ago I used to say plugins will never do anything like the great tube compression of my hardware - now you can get close enough. Same with plate reverbs / transformer saturation / amp simms etc. As all of these great devs continue to push the designs, we are in for a great future (But I still mix hybrid through vintage hardware - but now I use plug-ins and hardware > they talk to each other )

I mixed a cover song last week, it's a fact that there is only one piece of hardware involved. Meanwhile, I don't care anymore, if it sounds good, it is good. Who cares which tools were used.... they care if the song touched them...
See BE a star was born on a bedroom laptop.... that's the new Rock and Roll.

I didn't want to buy this, but after trying the demo on electronic drums, realized that it does something that none of my other saturators can do (Fuse stuff, Klanghelm SDRR). The smooth control in particular lets me dial in some fantastic sounds.
