I'm obsessed with EQ, I keep coming back to it, what are your favorite plugin EQ's at the moment?
They all seem to do something different, even the 'clean' ones.
Lately I've been getting a lot of use out of Slick EQ GE, reaching for MDWEQ6 a lot, and I just discovered (and bought) the classic Sonnox Oxford EQ.
I got hyped up about Weiss EQ MP for a bit but don't use it that often because of CPU hit and slightly sluggish UI. Sounds special, though.
There's a lot out there what are you using?

Slick EQ Sie EQ SSL EQ (Waves) Fabfilter Equality
If I can do what I need with those, something is wrong with me.
And I guess I grab the Avid Pultec when I want that sound. Works fine and is DSP.

Interesting. I’m just the opposite. I like to stick to just a few EQs I know so I can “memorize” the frequency ranges.
Pretty much just UAD Pultec, UAD Trident, Lindell 80, hardware RND 551, and the Bax on my Silver Bullet. I’ll use stock DAW when I need to notch something.
For me familiarity is better than variety. But I’m not coming at this with decades of ear refinement either. I’ve mostly been on the performing side of the glass until pretty recently.

LogicX channel EQ in Oversampling mode. SSL Brainworx G and E. Sometimes I use the free STL Pultec. I have to admit for gods sake of the quality I will reanimate my Waves SSL bundle soon. The compressors are just like the ones I know from a friends 4k. If I remember right the G had a smoother top end compared to the brainworxs... But hey those consoles are extremely old ... my guesswork is, they are all different?

My favorites:
Pro-Q Rule Tec IK EQ 432 (absolutely LOVE this one) Sie-Q Tonelux Tilt Acustica Celestial
If I can’t make it happen with some combination of those, the track itself is probably unsalvageable.
Often, I’ll reach for something else to shape the tone without using EQ. In those cases, it’s usually:
U-he Satin FF Saturn UAD Oxide Kush Omega N

I use the stock 7 band Pro Tools EQ all the time, for all kinds of stuff.
Now that I have the Rule Tec plugins I'm leaning on it less for broad shaping and filtering.
The only other one I use a lot is Massey VT3, it can be really great for focusing the mids on guitars. When it's not great, it's because you don't need it.

1. Pro-Q3 2. PA bx_console N 3. PA bx_console SSL 9000J 4. Rule Tec
Rule Tec is only really listed last because I just don't have Pultec EQ in my workflow that much, just a couple key spots. But it's my favorite ITB Pultec.

I really use Pro-Q3 for precise cuts and the occasional boost. I do use the UAD 1073 but mostly for saturation and a little maybe 10ths boost. Also really like the UAD Helios for the mids and high shelf. But after I bought the FF, I really don’t use much else.

Fabfilter UAD 1073 UAD 560 UAD pultec That’s true I’ve been known to use the UAD 550 on EG bus. I don’t use sub groups but Fabfilter - everything 1073 - vocals 560 - kick and snare(sometimes 550a) Pultec - stereo bus

1. Lil Freq for carving and boosting things aggressively. I’ve “found”some pretty amazing sounds inside other sounds. Also: the HF limiter in there is pretty cool. 2. Weiss EQ MP is worth the cpu hit for me. Actually worked pretty well on my system, but I also haven’t done too many high track count projects lately. 3. I also still regularly grab the UAD Pultecs when ITB. The familiarity is hard to beat. 4. I need to play with that new Amek channel strip’s eq some more. The couple of times I used it, I liked it.
Does anyone still use the Curvebender regularly?

Softube's Console 1 SSL 4K EQ - Classic SSL-style EQ. Super helpful. Softube's Summit EQF - 100 - Just sounds great as a large-move EQ. I also like how the two middle bands do the jobs I need them to. I always like the result. Kush Hammer - love it for master bus EQ. Slowly maybe getting replaced by the Blyss EQ on the right songs. Boz Digital +10db - LOVE it on guitars and drums. The low band is awesome for providing a little thud on shells and the top two bands are great for pushing a distorted guitar through a mix.
Other than that it's mostly ReaEQ or Kush Electra.

1) Tokyo Dawn Slick EQ GE 2) PSP Avedis E27 3) Fuse VQP 258 4) PSP Master Q2 5) Sonnox Oxford EQ modes 3 and 4. 6) Variety of Sound Boot EQ mkII. The high shelf is so smooth. So frickin smooth. Just enable the tube stage and crank it. Wow. 7) PSP RetroQ. Super underrated shelves.

I like to have something with completely different curves than any of my other busses or tracks. Not sure if there's any actual science behind that but it seems logical to me.

As I am in LUNA, with the API console emulation on every track, the built in API 550/560 is my most used EQ
I also use UAD Pultec on mixbus UAD Maag on vocals/acoustics,etc Pro Q3 for any notching or dynamic eq needed
Sometimes UAD helios for electric guitars UAD 1081 for a different vibe than API

Fabfilter UAD 1073 UAD 560 UAD pultec That’s true I’ve been known to use the UAD 550 on EG bus. Same here UAD 550A on guitars all the time! 560 on bass guitars sometimes, it's kind of magic/cheating there for finessing the low end of the mix.

Oooh I forgot to mention the Fuse Audio Eq's....I picked up the VQP bundle last year, and I've been using those a lot. Basically in place of anytime I'd reach for a Pultec for the tubev lf/hf sweetening. Really beautiful eq's.

Sounds like they really did some component modeling on that one to get the tone, it's not just a biquad filter with some saturation slapped on it like the Waves. At least it sounds "real" to me. I noticed in another thread that Joe Chicarelli is using this on his mix bus by default too, along with the Shadow Hills plugin compressor as his 1-2 combination for mix bus. That made me want to pull out the Shadow Hills again. I like it because it doesn't sound like an SSL.

Oh yeah - I forgot MusEQ Master is n every master channel mix I do. There’s a “master” preset that I start with…it’s a M/S eq and really adds width. Love it.
