Well I have had 3 x Stam 47fets and 1 x UT fet. I ended up keeping the UT47fet. I was semi interested in his SA47fet+ he emailed me about sending out some time back. But alas this did not eventuate.
They were both quite suitable mics for the task. I just thought the UT edged out the Stam model for things I liked more.

I have the UT47fet. It's close enough to an original, imho, and shines on kick and bass - it sounded amazing on a recent bass session with Ampeg amp/cabs. I also quite like it on rock vocals. I have no experience with the Stam.

I hadn't made the SA-47 FET in a few years.
I am now building the SA-47 FET MK2 which will be shipping end of this month, It will be in stock from October onwards.
It uses a new body based on the original and the Cinemag transformer on the MK1 has been replaced by a Sowter on the MK2 which get's it much closer to a vintage U47 FET, if anybody want's to try one I'd be happy to send one over for testing.
Warm Regards, Josh

Haven't used the Stam, but I had the FET47 a while back and it's a truly phenomenal mic. I tested it extensively against my old M149 and it held its own every time. Crazy good for the money. In fact, now that I've swapped the M149 for a 251, I'm thinking about buying the UT mic again to have something 47-ish.

I have not used the Stam, but I own a UT and it lives in front of the studio's Ludwig 26" kick. It captures the deep resonance of the front head extremely well. As others have said, it is a great mic.

The only real knock on Stam has been the delays, but now we live in a world where that’s the norm. I’m sure it will not be a disappointment. Of course the advantage of UT is you can find a dealer almost anywhere. Hell the little MI guy 5 blocks away asked what I thought of the UT.

I wonder how the UT FET sounds next to the Heiserman H47 FET.

From what I remember... UT47 FET sounded "tighter". The Heiserman 47 FET "lusher". I could see a studio getting both, to complement one another. Chris

I got a follow up email from josh today to check the mic arrived and all was ok. Thanks josh.
That prompted me to plug the mic in and test it. I must admit i bought the 47fet for a specific project so hadnt given it a spin yet. Project is next weekend.
Not being much of a singer i did some spoken word, tested the off axis rejection etc.
Initial thought was how nice the lower part of my voice sounded through this mic. Sort of round and warm with clear and focused mids. There is something very reassuring with the tone of the mic. Not sure how else to describe it at this early stage.
Also tried speaking at 90 deg and 180 deg and the rejection sounds promising.
