Well, not sure what to say. Not just great but super-great.

Bummer. Human metronome and all round nice guy. He will be missed.

Again, I choose not to be sad here. This man has had a life full of things we average folks couldn't dream of doing and I'm happy for him to have had those opportunities for so long.

The heart of the Stones’ “engine”. He had a hell of a life.

One of my favorites. I'm really bummed out to lose Charlie Watts.

A reminder to make the best of every day, and listen to Exile on Main Street often.

A reminder to make the best of every day, and listen to Exile on Main Street often. Or Sticky Fingers or It’s Only Rock and Roll or………….

Medley: maybe a year ago there was a "what is this mic?" thread, and here are good shots of a number of them, Beat Club once again. What a rollin' stomp of a beat.

For many of us, the loss of heroes is hard to take. Sometimes, we need our own mourning period. I'm in that group over this.
I briefly met Charlie in 2005, shook his hand and chatted once and saw the Stones in concert later that night
I'm glad they're going to soldier on and finish this tour in his honor.
Rest in Peace.

Being the 80’s child that I am, yesterday was spent running errands blasting Tatoo you. I couldn’t help but think how lucky I was one afternoon many years ago. I was playing pool with a friend when the phone rang and a friend called asking if I had any tickets for the Steel Wheels show at Alpine Valley, I didn’t. My mate who I was playing pool with asked what the call was about and I explained that another friend was looking for tickets for the sold out show, Craig looked at me and said he couldn’t go. 2 lawn seats for the stones back when Bill still hit the road. The Stones through a Harrison Alive and the Showco Prism.

The closest I ever got to the man himself was the first time I went to Steve Maxwell drums when they were still in the Fine Arts Building in downtown Chicago. There was a beautiful Slingerland Radio Kind set that had a Mel Tormé logo head on the bass drum. I asked for the story on the set. I was told that Gene Krupa gave it to Mel Tormé and that Slingerland had refurbished it at some point in the 70s. I made some sort of comment on there not being no price tag on the set and was told it just sold a couple of days prior. Then I was told it was being shipped to England. The Stones had been in town a few days earlier and Charlie came in and bought it and a couple of other vintage sets.
I didn't get to play it, but I did touch it...
