Oh - and for super lush long tail plate sounding plate - the Arturia 140 sounds awesome. How much better is the UAD EMT Plate versus the Pure Plate? I've always stuck with the Pure Plate since I got it bundled but I'm not 100% happy with the reverbs I'm getting. I don't think it's the plugins though, I think it's me. Not completely sure it’s different at all.

Just did some shuffling around here. The current go-to’s:
Ambiance - Seventh Heaven (usually Large) 140 Plate - Transatlantic Plate (European mode) Digital Plate - R4 (starting with 81 Plate, thanks Johnkenn) Room - Seventh Heaven if one of them works, usually does, or a Nimbus Studio room if tweaking Hall - Reverberate 224 Halls if going for vintage sounds and minimum tweaking, otherwise R4 (Famous Premium Hall or Randy’s Famous Hall) Chambers - Seventh Heaven (Sunset Chamber) or any number of IR based chambers.
Pre-delay on all set to either sync with the tempo, or 75ms to approximate a 15ips tape delay on the send.
Bonus Option: the Vocal Plate from my Yamaha Rex50.

I'm kind of glad this popped back up. On a mix for @gwlee last week I didn't feel like I was getting the guitars to gel with the drums. I decided to use the free U-he Protoverb on guitars. Protoveb is an odd duck. Instead of trying to mimic the reflections of walls, floors and ceiling it trys to mimic the air pressure change caused by soundwaves. I can be really helpful in making something have a nice halo without hearing the tail in the way most reverbs do. It's a really cool plugin that I don't think a lot of people know about.

On vocals, I end up using Tsar-1 way more than I ever thought I would. On the right source it works great. I always put a lpf and hpf before it to keep it from getting murky or bright. I've never used a preset as the interface is quick to dial in something. Maybe that's why I like it. I hate twiddly plugins. It slows me down.
Nimbus is good for a more room sound. I also use some of the liquid Sonic reverbs often.

I actually sold a Lexicon PCM80 more because the user interface drove me nuts, than that I disliked the sound.
