I believe satellite ua dsp is still used for mixing? Question? You can't run Luna without an Apollo, even if you benefit from Satellite DSP.

No, responding to phantom’s comment. I understand Luna requires an Apollo: commented on that earlier.

No, responding to phantom’s comment. I understand Luna requires an Apollo: commented on that earlier. I know that. But really why it needs an Apollo, since all the processing is native? There is no reason besides the commercial one.

I believe satellite ua dsp is still used for mixing? Question? Kcat ends all his sentences in question marks. Takes a minute to get used to.

I am not certain that all Luna processing is on the host computer, is that stated on the ua site somewhere or why do you think that is true ?

I am querying whether previous statements are correct: like all Luna processing is on the host?

I'm not sure - but I know this...I'm gonna need a new computer.

There is no reason besides the commercial one. I can even see saying Apollo is required to track. But if you are just mixing, you should have the freedom to disconnect the interface, if you have your own DAC and monitoring.

Luna processing is on the host computer. They claim it's written to require only the Apollo monitor outs, No other DAW requires that that I can think of. Not familiar enough with PT HD to know if you have to be connected with their interface always, and same with Metric Halo's DAW.

While mixing in your daw you could just use non Apollo sharc dsp ( satellite, pci-e card), so theoretically your Apollo could be shut off unless you want it’s dsp online .

And just for comparison: the Lindell 50 strip is really similar to this. Switchable EQ section between a 3-band, 4=band, and graphic EQ options. The Dynamics is switchable between 525 FET compressor or the 2500 vca. I actually think the Lindell is a bit easier to read when working with it. They are asking $350 for it, but of course with PA there are opportunities to spend much less. My price is currently $179. And you can get it in their subscription bundles.
Love that thing, just as good as UAD API IMO, I have the UAD EQ bundle.

I believe the latest version of Pro Tools ultimate runs fine without HDX hardware but you lose some functionality, notably host processing, but that’s obvious. Pro tools vanilla definitely does. My 10HD license worked fine on an internal sound card but I had to have a physical ilok. Now ilok is virtual, if you want to be tethered to internet access when using it.

Don’t forget about softube console 1 w/ American Class A. Sounds pretty good and comes with most importantly .... knobs!

Having a middleware plugin between my plugin and controller is totally unappealing.

Luna is tempting, yesterday, during the live show, if I understidd well what universal audio wrote, there should be MCU protocol in the near future. this means a surface control. I hope so. Maybe Mackie's surface control will be used
