Wondering if anyone else was checking out the newest plugin from Sonimus- SonEQ 2? sonimus.com/products/soneq2Unlike some of their plugins it does have a demo which is not time limited (but is limited in pretty much most other ways: no automation, no CPU optimization, can’t save, no oversampling...) I don’t particularly care about it being a modular thing in that you can add/subtract/move different bands up to 16 slots but think they made some odd choices in combining the preamp/output/filters in to one module, only having fixed shelves for LF/HF, etc especially when it’s modular but perhaps they can add more modules later? ( although I don’t know that is something they are going to do.) I think it sounds good, and seems to be clean and efficient (even without being optimized or having its up to 16x oversampling in the demo) but I’m currently on pain killers for the leg surgeries I had last week and on Wednesday so I’m not completely trusting of my hearing or judgment so I’d love to know what others think of it

I started a thread about it when it first dropped and it got a somewhat negative or skeptical responses. I don't think people are into these modular plugins as much. Someone brought up a point that automation could be a challenge.
Personally, son eq was a workhorse for me in my early days when I didn't want to spend money on plugins. So I got the pro version eventually. I got this one as soon as it came out. I think it sounds really good. I like being able to dial in the saturation.
I also don't really think I'd add a module typically. Im not a big EQer and if I have to mangle something from a client then it gets Fabfilter...

Sorry I not only now remember that thread, I think I'm the one who brought up the automation issue! So far I'm really impressed with SonEQ 2. Obviously we all have a zillion EQ options but I'm kind of looking for exactly what you are doing, I have FabFilter Pro-Q3 and also TDR Slick EQ GE for cutting and surgery but I don't love TDR for sweetening - just something about it workflow wise that doesn't excite me - I'm thinking SonEQ 2 might be the "one". thanks for your thoughts.

Haha! I forgot that was you! It's definitely a nice sounding non surgical EQ. Great for basic track tone shaping. I'm still living with it for a while but it does sound nice to me...

I like Sonimus software. I'm not in the need for an EQ though. I haven't even listened to it though. It may be the best thing since sliced bread, IDK. No oversampling... huh.

Gotcha! Yeah, that seemed too weird.

Seems like a weird thing to leave out of the demo...

Seems like a weird thing to leave out of the demo... Their demo policy is bizarre. LOVE that they are untimed, don't mind you can't save but they purposely don't include CPU optimization or Oversampling options so you have no way to real-world test it on your system. also (as I have complained here and over 'there') modular plugins can be really tricky or downright horrible with automation parameters. What if you add/delete/move modules? do they map to your control surface if you use one? No way to test on the demo which is a real turn off for me. I mean the demo sounds good and performs well and doesn't show any real red flags in Plugin Doctor regarding aliasing or IMD issues even without oversampling and it seems pretty good on CPU but still I wish they had a full-featured, time limited option too

I like their Britson plugin. But, yes, they have a weird policy. And a weird customer service. I once contacted them through the customer service function on their website with a question and they never replied...
