So I’ve had some weird things happening with my Motu Ultralite AVB. If I leave the DAW session idle for too long (like more than 10 minutes), the latency on my hardware inserts gets thrown off.
Example: I have my V Comp as a hardware insert on the lead vocals. Using Cubase’ I/O plug I ping the insert and the latency is automatically measured and adjusted for. Then I leave to get some coffee, come back 10 mins later and the vocals are off time, I re-ping and now the latency is measure at over 100ms...which is more than the plugin will compensate for. The only way to correct it is to reboot both interface and computer.
It’s maddening. Not sure if it’s a Cubase problem or Interface issue but this ever happened with my old Motu interface...so somehow they’re not talking to each other well.
Add this problem to the fact that every so often I loose all playback. Changing the buffer setting fixes that so it’s not too much of a hassle but still...I shouldn’t be having these issues.
Anyone having the same problems?

This sounds like a typical USB audio issue. Turn off all power saving options on your OS.

Thanks I’ll double check that, I typically always turn off all those settings but I may have missed something.

I had a WD Blue hard drive as a backup drive that caused all kinds of similar issues. This was with the hard drive just setting idle in an external dock not in use just connected usb. Replaced with a new back up drive and issue’s have stopped . Drove me crazy chasing the issues for a long time . Might be worth checking ?

I don’t have any other devices hooked up so that’s ruled out.

This sounds like a typical USB audio issue. Turn off all power saving options on your OS. So I double checked every setting I could find in my OS (El Capitan 10.11.6) and all the power saving stuff is turned off. Got any other ideas? I’m at a loss.

MOTU at one point swapped out my entire AVB system over firmware problems, something was just buggy. I didn't have your problem, but I would not discount a hardware problem. Are you able to move the MOTU to a different computer and see how it behaves there?
