Hey,
Got a new Samsung 55 inch 4 k tv. my older eyes are loving the resolution and picture quality.
For audio out it has digital ( toslink) fitting. I had an older lightly used toslink cable but one end has the normal fitting, the other, just has like 1/8th inch male fitting?
I plugged the other end into tv digital out and can see the red light at other end.
Has the toslink fitting just somehow come off the one end, as although the cable seems to be passing signal, I cannot attach it or insert it securely into digital in on my receiver ?
Thoughts: or just buy a new cable ?
Thx!

That's a laptop/pc cable. Some pc audio cards had a optic port at the back of the headphone jack. Most of the cables I have seen like that, the 1/8 end would unscrew or pop off revealing a standard toslink end.

I just ordered a new one from Amazon: had a $5 coupon, so not expensive!

And they work great, except if there is any kind of air movement in the room or any vibration. In other words they suck,

Mark, I fought with those things on various laptops and Mini’s for years. Then last month I had to trouble shoot a setup where a guy was using a Mini using that stupid Optical out. All I did was substitute a Drop/ Grace DAC via USB, suddenly everything worked trouble free. Always like it when an $80 box and a USB cable make me look like a a Genius!
