I think we touched on this a while back, but I don’t recall seeing this demo video before: looks pretty slick!

Yeah there's a thread on here for the apb processor. Cool looking unit. Pricey though.

Yup, if you were rebuilding and knew what to buy his system would be great, but retrofitting, pricy:)

Retro fitting? All it is a thunderbolt cable. Be like adding a uad satellite dsp box. This is also dsp but uses analog circuits.

My engineer has all of the McDsp plugs and would love to have that box, but $$$$$

Looks interesting. Is this like a Distressor where digital is basically used instead of analog switches or does it have a digital sidechain and control signals? All sorts of bad behavior is possible with the latter.

The limited functions of the Moo plugin GUI aren’t really needed considering u can dial in everything on the APB plugin GUI. The moo mixer compression knob made things louder when compressing .. no thanks
This video & others I’ve watched doesnt do the APB justice ( moo mixer as well ) This product could really be successful if McDSP went in depth on the workflow.
The ABP 16 is $7k. Yes $7000. You know how much Weight Tank, Audioscape, & Capi etc you can get for $7000?

My questions & thoughts on this product & APB16 after watching several videos.
1.) Provide APB vs non APB level matched audio.
2.) Show off the analog circuits.
3.) elaborate on the type of analog circuits used & what comps the APB models.
4.) commitment to more models ( would this need more analog circuits to properly emulate ? )
5.) Price point, $7000, very high until you show the customer the value.
6.) Explain the conversion process. Eq is digital but comps are analog on the APB16. If I eq then comp, that’s 1 D to A to APB, a 2nd A to D for Eq, a 3rd D to A from Eq to Comp, then a 4th A to D from comp going back into DAW. 4 round trips is a lot per ch esp times 8 or 16.
7.) 32 bit converters - which chips, why is this not a talking point? Who else makes 32 bit converters?
8.) What analog emulations can the APB do?
9.) How many analog effects per ch? 1 or 2?
10.) What type of analog circuits / components are used in the APB16?
11.) Does it have transformers or tubes? Pop the top lol
12.) ohhhh.. No tubes ... hmmmm... how there is a analog “ tube limiter “ w/ no tubes?
13.) So if I use the APB plug to choose my analog circuit, then tweak to my liking why would I need the moo mixer plugin?
14.) There is 4 comps & 2 limiters circuits available, any more APB analog models being developed?
15.) 3 saturators per channel? What kind/ type & what are they modeled on?
16.) Is the Digital peak limiter on the APB16 always active when going back into the DAW or only when you engage it to prevent overdriving the DAW converter?

The ABP 16 is $7k. Yes $7000. You know how much Weight Tank, Audioscape, & Capi etc you can get for $7000? yes. About 7 channels worth of Weight Tank and Audioscape. maybe 8, maybe 6. Depends on what you want. Or less even. CAPI..depends on if you're building but maybe 14. So yeah..it's not that expensive per channel from anything else. It's just it's 16 channel right off the bat. Thats less than $500 a channel you realize right? Providing it's as good as it is, it's a good deal. Bob Katz really likes this thing. To some of your other random questions, I'd agree, be cool to see whats in the box and what they are using. There are plenty of 32bit converters out there now. The Merging Anibus I believe has them. Every new Mixpre from Soundevices even has 32 bit converters. Only 16 mono plugins or 8 stereos. Check out the FAQ here for some additional answers to your questions: www.mcdsp.com/apb/apb-support/apb-faq/#text_block-158-1231Was a bit disappointed there wasn't a full on manual with a spec sheet on there..But it is very very new tech so I can understand wanting to keep it under wraps for now.
