It's actually the 13th. So you can go buy today and still be eligible. BTW, this impacts the entire industry, look for the fallout in all manner of ways in the coming days/weeks. On the bright side, we're reacting with some cool new product bundles coming soon, stay tuned. So the satellite deal is until the 13th?

That is a really tempting deal...
I mean, I do need a good "mobile" rig...

Drew, am I only allowed to buy from the dealers listed on the UAD Promo page, or can I purchase through other dealers not listed there?

I am curious of this as well. If I were to want to purchase this with the promo, where would I do it? Would a dealer from the UA page honor the program through tomorrow despite taking it off their site currently?

Drew said this to same question at ua forum:
Ask them if they are an official UA dealer , they’ll know.

Off-topic, but does anyone know if I can use a Motu 16a on the ADAT's I/O of an Apollo? Any issues? Will be mainly for HW inserts during mixing.

I guess I'm wondering more about converter latency mismatching between the Apollo and Motu.

I guess I'm wondering more about converter latency mismatching between the Apollo and Motu. That will always be the case when you mix and match devices.

I don’t have a MOTU interface, but when I first purchased my x4 I connected it via adat to my Symphony MkII and had some functionality, but not to the extent I wanted. Sold the Symphony and added a x16 a few days ago and now have the I/O and workflow that really meets my needs. As a bonus, I never really liked my Focal Twin 6 monitors with the Symphony. They always sounded harsh in the high end to me making it hard to mix, so I found myself using headphones more and more. Now with the x16 I’ve fallen back in love with my Focals. I feel like I can hear what’s going on with the mix very well without the harshness. Never thought different converters would make that much difference. Maybe it’s just a happy coincidence due to the frequency my abused ears hear, or don’t hear.

So, I'm still a die hard Lynx (n) guy but I happened to have 24 month interest free financing on a dealer card that was empty so... I snuck in an order for an x8p today and it'll be my mobile rig and my "sometimes when I want to use console and track with UA plugs" rig. I have a PCIe quad and octo so I'll either flip the satellite or more likely I'll sell the PCIe cards and offset some of the cost that way.
Gonna get this thing registered soon as it shows up for the satellite deal.

Apparently you get a booklet with the 8xp with a 15% off coupon: who knew. A guy at UA forum just experimented applying towards his upgrade balance to get Ultimate 9 and it worked, so excellent value taking 15% the already discounted balance. I wonder about the N!

Whether I would prefer the N to X, pretty well impossible to demo here.

Whether I would prefer the N to X, pretty well impossible to demo here. Wish I lived closer, we could do that! I will let you know what I think! I guess I could find a way to split signals etc... hmmmmm
I mean, I went for the Lynx because unless I'm going way, way high dollar, it seemed to be the best for transparency around that 3000 dollar range... and it's a dedicated converter. I have a real penchant for total transparency so that my front end determines the sound and I reap all the benefits from that.
The x8p is probably really great, but it also does a lot of other things, too. So I expect the Lynx to edge it out in pure conversion but if you are into the UA console/Luna paradigm then it's not really a contest.
Jury is out on the x8p but I think it will be fun for certain projects to record through the UA plugs on the way in.

I was also a convinced Lynx (n) user. It´s an amazing unit. But the thing is that the apollo interfaces do way more and to me the sound difference isn´t night and day. I´m happier with my recordings now than I was on my Lynx time. And as I said before, I´m in the middle of a test phase where I´m using Unison preamps instead of outboard and I´m only seeing pros in this setup. Might have another opinion in two weeks, who knows!

FYI: Someone at UA forum said they got an 8xp very recently, no 15% discount found.

True true! My opinion could change. I'm more of an impractical "the 1% will keep me up at night" type both with my engineering stuff and my own business making parts. So far the Apollo sounds very good, and time will tell, but I still enjoy that extra that I seem to get on the Lynx. That is of course more of a personal thing with how I go about recording. The exception being more rock/dirty/colorful type productions where tracking with Unison preamps and plugins to get color is preferred. Hey, it's not like it's either or over here. I'll gladly use both!

Nice, still don’t understand why UA doesn’t advertise this more ad it’s a real incentive to grab the x8p?
