So in a moment of weakness, I was enticed by their current sale and the offer of getting free plugs if you buy certain amounts. I even paid to update my old ones knowing that the last time I had an impossible time trying to get all the different versions working together.
And yet again, I'm having issues installing the plugs.
A nondescript error with no real help on their FAQ or the internet in general.
I await their support reply..
But damn. Every. Single. Time. I have issues with their dumbass licensing or middleware app shit.
Pretty much any other plugin from any other companies works fine the first time.
I really should learn my lesson.

Since I had my last Waves trouble (7 years ago), I asked god to help me to not send them money again. Jesus it worked.... I never bought WAVES again.
Just to say the Waves politics burned 1.2 K in Euro for me.
Could have been some nice HW gear.....

I uninstalled the SSL and API ones a while ago. There were about 5 different folders to be deleted. You have to unregister the old ones before uninstalling them, uninstall them in the waves central, uninstall waves central, manually remove everything waves, reinstall waves central, and then install the new versions of the plugs from the new installation of waves central to get them to work ime.

I've always had trouble with Waves installs/versions too.

I refuse to buy any more Waves Plugins for all the aforementioned reasons too.

Have had completely the opposite experience. Have never paid for WUP. Every 5-6 years buy a new bundle on sale (ridiculously low price for previous costomers) & everything works flawlessly. Presently have Horizon + extra ones with V9 in PT HD 10 & V11 in PT 2019.

Lord knows I'm not a Waves apologist: I've had similar bad experiences over the years to you all. BUT, I will say that the most recent version of their licensing/installation app (Waves Central, I think?) has worked very well for me. Much simpler and faster than past iterations.

I've never had any problems with Waves install and licensing. I do have some issues with their business tactics when it comes to piracy.

I certainly am not a fan and so far have not purchased really anything new in years.
But I still use several of them a lot. And have no issues running v9, v10, and v11 plugins all on the same machine.

Only have bought a few, first time their update/install process was not uniform and was problematic and I found their help either difficult to understand or didn’t work, I passed, can’t be bothered.

FYI... I've heard a nasty rumor that someone is so ticked off with them, that they buy all their plugs and then crack them and remove all the registration and verification protocols and put them up on torrent sites for free downloading, and that they work absolutely perfectly.
I've also heard that some AE's buy legit copies but install the cracked versions since they work fine and no crashes or problems occur.
But these are only rumors. Nothing more, only nasty rumors.

I also heard that a lot of cracked programs tend to be trojan horses to get keyloggers and other malicious softwares into people's machines.. I understand the sentiment of getting around the horseshit licensing, but I also had a computer get destroyed back 20 years ago by trying to use a cracked program that ultimately infected it with a virus.. That time I did learn my lesson. But in any case, the licensing thing worked fine, it's the installer portion that doesn't seem to work, and it acts like it's not even trying to do the install. The log file just says "unknown error code". I have a feeling that this would happen whether or not I'm online since it all goes through the installer application either way. Gonna be fun to see if all the people swearing that Waves has "great customer service" are real or just planted reviews..

Apparently there are forums full of folks having the same issue with win 7 and Waves V11 and Waves won't acknowledge there is an issue.
So I'm going to try a few things.
One person was able to install their plugs in "Safe mode" and use them in normal mode. I'll try this first since I might as well try to use the V11 version.
Other people are able to use the V10 installer to install V10 plugins with no issues on the same systems that won't install V11 plugs. I'll try this second simply because I'd rather use V11 plugs if possible.

That is unfortunate to hear. I've had issues at times in the past. Doing wipes of the folders and installing has worked for me, though. I run everything just fine these days and I will second that the latest Waves Central works better than it has before. I hope you can get it figured out. I do find their plugs to be useful and very affordable on sale.

So none of the above worked. Safe mode gives an error about the installer. V10 installer gives the same error as V11.
I did find something that did though.
I installed V10 central station on my recording computer and installed the whole suite on my other computer and then copied over all the folders that V10 installed into the same locations on the recording computer.
I opened my daw and it asked to open central station and rescan the licenses. I did and then they showed up in reaper. It complained that I was missing the V9 versions but as I went track by track it simply opened up the V10 versions.
Seems like they all work now.

For something called “plug ins” they sure don’t seem to want to.

I'm terrible about updates and things. My computer mostly runs good with PT10 and the Waves stuff that I do use and like are part of the reason I haven't installed PT12. I really should, though. 64-bit and some things are just plain unavailable to me because I'm still running 32-bit processing.
I kinda want to pay someone to just do it for me.
But I'm poor...

So yeah this still works today, so I'm guessing that's fixed.
Anyway, seems that waves has an issue with win 7 even though they claim V10 plugs and installer are supported.
The workaround is to install v10 central on two machines and use a working install to copy waves folders from Program Files, Program Files x86, and Program Data over to the same spots on the machine that won't install then open Central if the licensing error pops up. Subsequent uses do not seem to have the error anymore.

This thread made me watch my Waves account.
At least they stopped offering me WUP for another $220 - now they just want me to pay $67. Seems they made the math that they created death accounts with their business politics.
I wuped two times and bought the SSL bundle when it was brand new on the market - the bundle was $900. Alone this fact should guarantee me lifetime free access to the bundle 1.2K - JESUS.

Isn't it crazy that the company with the most expensive update plan also has the most bugs when trying to update?

Yeah it’s not fun. Make a backup first !!!! I was on PT 10.3 on OS X Lion & wanted to install all my new Komplete/ UAD/ Valhalla etc. I thought I could copy everything that was already installed from a tested partitioned drive & it didn’t install 1:1 on the main SSD. Clean install of El Capitan & now installing updated DAW’s & plugins & virtual synths.

So waves sent me a reply, said it was a known issue and had me install a fixed version of central.
Lol, same error.

That's a good one how up to date they are. Updating with most developers is a breeze today...
