I have an Old Triton rack that’s nearing 20 years old and I have a Yamaha ModX8. I’m not a keyboard player piano player but I was looking into getting a workstation keyboard that you can compose on but doesn’t break the bank and has solid sounds. I was working with a keyboard player recently and they brought this Korg Kross over to the studio. I had a chance to play with it and the sounds are pretty darn decent in that thing, It seems easy to use. So now this has me interested in looking into keyboards category again. So what other keyboard would complement my Yamaha mod X8? Could it be the Korg Kross 2? This would be for live and studio work. Btw...The Korg Kross 2 is only $799 new. That’s not bad considering the sounds are very useable with SD Card and usb functions. Thanks.

Compliments my Juno-60 and Ensoniq Mirage nicely, but I've been super happy with it.

Does your current keyboard have midi? If so, why not use it as a controller for virtual instruments on a cheap laptop?
That way it's infinitely flexible.

The MODX8 is an incredibly powerful synth. Where is it not delivering? Sounds? Sequencing? Are you just looking for something smaller to gig with? Soundwise I don't think you're going to get much better without going to plugins for real sounds or analog for classic synthy sounds.
