Saw this it’s a quote from Audioscape. There talking about there new pre coming and someone suggested a UA 2108 clone and this was Audioscape response “ Also worked with an ex UA designer to help get things just right - as there isn’t a lot of documentation or material available for such a unique design like the 2108 ! Man oh man... we know what folks want. And no, we’re not going to do a 1073 or REDD. Lol. Done to death and done well, our words exactly !!”
So maybe a 2108 ??!! That would be awesome In the words of Audioscape. Bahhhhaaawaaa
Edit : as title says totally speculation!

I'm glad to see them doing something different and not just the usual suspects. The company seems to be growing leaps and bounds and it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch, I'm very happy for them! Speaking of that...my AS Opto arrives Monday

So it's the ua1108 preamp?
It's pretty similar to the rev A 1176 without the fet attenuator.

Ok just saw this from Audioscape on the purple sit
“ We definitely did it right with the V108 (OH NO! I let the name slip!)
It looks awesome, too. I shall tease a pic of it next to the V3A VERY soon!!
With help from the ex-UA engineer who designed the original 2108, we definitely hit the mark!! ;-)
Well now ?

What consoles had 2108's back in the day? I've heard about them for years but I don't know much about them.

I honestly thought the 2108 was a Putnam Jr. Thing.

Yes the 2108 was Putnam jr] I kinda wondering if it could be a UA 108 since they named it v108 . V like in the V comp with tubes . Naw surly not ? Well maybe . That would be I think quite the engendered feat!

They really misnamed the 2108, I see the confusion that causes.
I don't know what a 108 would be, I don't think there is such a thing. There's one EQ schematic out there named 108, but I think it's really the 508.
1008 tube 1108 transistor 1208 would've made better lineage sense than 2108
I was thinking the Hairball Bronze was this territory, but it's an LA-3 type discrete opamp.

LOVE THIS THREAD!!! And sorry @johnkenn - ward started it and I just couldn't help myself! ;-) The V108 (V as in roman numeral 5, short for "500 series" just as we used it with the V3A and will become a staple of all or most of our 500-series modules) and 108 as in "1108/2108" as we added in the front-end JFET stage similar to what UA did with the 2108, which many, many folks seemed to love. It's one of my personal all-time favorite preamps (both the 1108/2108) and seeing as, how other have pointed out, we're moving away from the "usual suspects" - it was a logical choice as our first 500-series preamp. It sounds awesome, looks awesome and paris VERY WELL with our V3A! Speaking of, we're WAY CLOSER on a "soft" V3A release than any of us imagined! It MAY even happen sometime near the end of this week. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!! The V108 is NOT far behind... Hope this clears a few things up! These 2 new products are only a drop in the bucket for what we have in development right now.... there's so much more I could say but since the rest are further out - I will refrain, hahahaha. Thanks all! You're the BEST and we oh so love you all !!!! MUAH! - Charlie

I would make an absolutely awful televangelist...but I’m shithead enough to be a decent marketing evangelist for audioscape? Ok. Sorry for camping out at the purple site a bit too much lately ... but I have a job to do and hope to bring some of those people over to OUR way of Thinking. And appreciate more audioscape, Heiserman , Louder than Liftoff, Coil, Stager and CAPI. but clearly I’m only actively working the Audioscape threads over there. Full disclosure.

ward’s punishment - hosting Xmas in July party at his place for everyone. It maybe X-nas or July of next year before “party” re-enters our vocabulary.

Question . . . point of order, your honors,
what is XMas and XNas? Sounds ominous.
