What do you guys know about this mic? I'm waiting on some money to come from an album I finished, was going to spend in on an Axe Fx3 but I've been entertaining the idea of buying a mic instead. Just saw the um902.1 on reverb for a good price. Its main uses would be acoustic guitar and vocals. I often record singer songwriters and play and sing at the same time so the Figure 8 pattern would be helpful.
My current LDC's are an ADK tc67 and Gefell umt79s. I love them both, but the ADK being Cardiod only is very limiting. I'd be selling the ADK if I bought this mic.
Thoughts? How does it compare to the more well know nuemann's (87, u47, u67 etc)?
Thanks.

It has been a while since I used one but I remember it as a great vocal mic. It is their updated version of the UM57. An M7 capsule with an EF86 tube I believe instead if the original ECC92 tube so you have a microphone right between a U47 and U67. It has it's own character but has a very expensive sound.

Thanks Tim, that helps a lot. My dilemma is that I could get a Signal Arts u47/u48 for the about the same price. There's so many great options in the $2000 and less price range.

Well a couple of things to consider: In many ways a U47 is a one trick pony. I have an original and what it works on sounds wonderful but that is male vocals and acoustic guitar basically. I would say the 92.1 is more of an allrounder. The other thing is resale value. The Gefell will hold it's value better
