Wondering if anybody has tried these. Pretty sure I would never use the mic modeling. Not sure about the plugins. And I don’t really need pres. what I am looking for is good conversion, I/o to use in a hybrid system, at least eight, more always better, mainly for outboard compressors, a headphone amp, and USB 2 capability for my aging Mac although that may be going away sooner than later so may not be an issue. I think this ticks all those boxes and is currently on special for the next little bit. I’d need more cabling, DB25, for the outs - no patch bay here. So that’s an added expense. The competition would be the Cranborne R8 but it just went up about $700 up here. But also includes a 500 rack. Which might still be my most cost effective solution, but I’d have a real hard time pulling the trigger knowing it was that much cheaper a couple weeks ago. Anywho, any experience with either unit would be appreciated! Thanks, Geoff

If you read about that company on the internet, nothing seem to work it's very strange. !!!!! The major reason that Antelope gets a lot of online flak is that the internet is full of big mouthed people who think they don't need to bother with reading the manual before attempting installation. If you don't follow their installation exactly (which ain't hard) it's pretty easy to bork the process so badly that you need to get help from customer support. I had ZERO problems with my Orion 32, but then I read manuals - and had heard about what happens if you don't.
Hint: If you're one of those people who absolutely refuses to connect their studio box to the internet, Antelope is not for you. The connection is only required during software installation and must be in place BEFORE starting the install process.
I'm on Win 7.

Yeah I’ve heard the software can be buggy, and the documentation can be lacking. Plus this thing has a lot of bells and whistles I’m unlikely to use. That being said appears to tick all the boxes for I/o for my needs.
I’m wondering how the conversion on this compares to their higher end models. I’m on a Mac fwiw.
Cheers, Geoff

I have used an original (silver) Orion Studio since 2017. I got a deal on it when he 2017 came out. It is a brilliant piece of kit, to me. I mainly wanted it due to the mastering quality DA monitor specific outs. I had an MR816 prior and it was a world of difference. I knew it came with plugins but I didn't care. I didn't plan to use them, being comfortable with Waves, Softube and Slate.
One day I decided to try the plugins and BAM, blew me away. The Lange EQ is incredible. I don't use any of the other EQ's as Softube Console 1 is my channel processing goto. The compressors are what really get me. The Gyratec X is amazing, as are the Liverpool and practically every other one. The Gyratec X lives on my master and the Liverpool is generally on every vocal track. They seems to have a depth and 3D quality that none of my Waves or Slate compressors do. The only Slate I use is the Red 3 emu.
The console for Antelope is a bit mind boggling but I've never really had any issues with drivers or operation. I generally use Antelope plugs on all busses.
If you're on Mac, I give a big thumbs up and say go for it.

I HATE "modern" GUIs that try to mimic cell phones. I don't use my phone for computing/internet/music and I don't use my computer to make phone calls. On computers I like a nice, old fashioned desktop. I'd revert to a Win 95 interface in a New York minute if I could.
I have a Wn 10 laptop and find the interface almost unuseable. Which is really too bad.
The amount of computing power these new OSses waste on "pretty" graphics and other nonessential junk is absurd.

I prefer win7 myself. But if you disable a lot of stuff on win10 it's not so bad. That said my comment was directed at the fact win7 is now obsolete as of last month. Microsoft has stopped doing updates for it.

yo windows 7 8 and 10 users - you should install classic shell and make windows worth living again it restores your classic (usable) windows start menu and windows navigation buttons and you can customize things to your liking I can't use windows 10 without it but fortunately I don't have to www.classicshell.net/downloads/fyi I have an antelope studio silver model and it sounds great the converters are not the latest but plenty good for myself
