The new Lynx seems like a far more effective option

I know there's been a lot of talk of convertors as of late... Can't find additional info on the iZ site?

It is astounding eh my experience with Lynx is that they aren't exactly ultra transparent. Merging, Grace, or Dadmon converters are much better. Plus RADAR converters are more like Burl converters in that they are known for a specific sound. And I LOVE RADAR converters for mixing. Probably wouldn't choose them for mastering but still amazing converters. Either way, this new unit is just Radar for Dante so not that awesome really. Plus it'll still cost probably 4-5kish with the Ultra Nyquist cards. Not a great deal for 8ch I/O

@ black dog
I really like my symphony mkii and think about it’s 2x6se module for 2 mastering converters or even better for tracking.
But I wonder about other options, like the one’s you mention above, had mostly been thinking Lynx Hilo.
Have you used those others or what more can you say about their sound quality, not so concerned about connectivity other then tbolt.
Thx!

I had kinda gotten off the ADDA lust for a while and settled in with the really nice converters along with a hybrid HW approach...but I'm starting to get the fever again. Thinking about downsizing HW, moving completely ITB and improving monitoring and DA.

I know there's been a lot of talk of convertors as of late... Do you know if Barry is involved in this effort? I have a couple of the ADA II units with my PT HDX platform...I’m assuming we can drop in existing converter cards? It doesn’t look like they’d fit!

Would like to hear it though. The options I listed are some of the top tier extremely neutral converters. They don't have a sound really and focus on detail. I use all three pretty regularly. The Merging stuff is unbelievably good. The Grace is also no joke, stellar sounding. I use an AX32 as monitoring controller as well and it is also exception. It's a pretty insanely powerful unit actually. Pretty good bang for your buck, but it's a lot of bucks. I use 2 HAPIs and 1 HORUS for my Pryamix system at the studio. Grace mic pres for recording and the Grace AD converters for going into PT. The Merging stuff is better sounding, we always track with both but down sample the Pryamix to mix at 96K for most thing other than full on albums with is DXD the whole time. If I could afford it, Id run a Horus with an PT HDX card for my home setup. Probably just end up with a HAPI though for mastering. i use

Thx, I’ll be googling a lot!
I appreciate your reference to increased detail.
All these level of boxes are for me a significant expense and if you can’t demo them, other than reputation, you don’t really know what you are buying.
Of course, the 2x6se is a drop in module to my mkii chassis and can be purchase for around $200 off list, so is the more obvious one to consider.

Yeah hard to not try the se if you have the interface already. I almost went that route for my home setup. Nice box since you have 16 analog in and out plus the se 2x6 in one unit. Plus HDX.

I am running tbolt but the 2x6se is the logical thing to do.

Thinking about downsizing HW, moving completely ITB and improving monitoring and DA. Can you ban yourself from your own site?
