Read the Strymon manual!!! There is a boot up option to bypass the amp simulator, or the cabinet loader. If you just use it stock it's got both turned on. so yeah you would be 'double amping' You're going to need a cab loader somewhere. either in the Iridium, or in the computer. Without a speaker the amp is going to sound buzzy and "direct" You CAN load your own IR's in the Iridium! I think that's a super cool feature. Check out the manual and download the software to do this if you want/need to. I think we crossed wires. I don’t want a built in IR in my reactive box because I AM using the Iridium for cab IR’s. I have the Iridium in amp bypass mode (as well as line level mode), but I am still getting strange behavior from the Iridium, like the amps aren’t actually being bypassed. I expanded on this in the Iridium thread. Oh, interesting! I'll have to check out that thread. If this combo doesn't work I'm going to have to find something else.

I've been dealing with this distorted sound running my Swart AST into the Suhr Reactive Box. I talked about it a bit in the Iridium thread, because I thought it might have been an issue with that. But I actually think the distortion is coming from the Suhr. At first, I wasn't sure if it was just the way a line level amp into a cab IR sounds or not. Now I'm pretty certain something is amiss. Here is a sample. Listen to the hair of the note. Sounds harsh and unpleasant. drive.google.com/file/d/1tmMoqfH4gkrHrlS4P1kHKSKoz5Mjbroz/view?usp=sharing I've been googling a bit, and found this thread where a guy is dealing with the exact same thing. The very first post has a sample, and it's EXACTLY the distortion I'm hearing on my rig. www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/suhr-reactive-load-ir-issues.1876644/

Interesting, glad you are getting some insight.
Just for the record, I would like to add that the Torpedo Captor boxes sound VERY GOOD. Whether or not they are the "perfect" impedance curve or not, doesn't seem to matter to my ears because they sound pretty wonderful.
I'm still looking into hardware IR loading options because committing to a cab on the way in would be pretty key for me, I don't like having to think about that later.

FYI not sure if it shows on the desktop (I’m on mobile) but Husky is John Suhr himself.

Also, I just found something interesting. I removed my headphones and just played some on the guitar and I can hear buzzing coming from the box itself! Not sure if this is just a mechanical vibration from the fan kicking on each time or not, but it's definitely something.

Can’t check the video now but that’s probably normal. A reactive load needs a way to react. Weber Mini Mass has some kind of dummy magnet assembly that works like a speaker without the cone, and it definitely buzzes. Don’t know about the Suhr.
