Guys I swear I'm not a shill. This comp (or at least the one I've got ) is a difference maker, big time. Build a mix, the best you can, then A/B with or without after all is done (and feel free to use plug ins). You'll print with this. I don't know what voodoo magic he did with this and I've never owned a 4 k console, but I'm a believer.
I bought mine. And yes, I'm a fan of the 4k 80's sound but it works on anything. Tight, accurate an pointed. Brings everything wanted to the front and squeezes the sides. Cudos on this affordable piece.

Congrats! I've loved everything AudioScape I have so far (Opto, 2x 76A, V Comp, D Comp). If I didn't already have a Serpent SB4001 and a SSL G Comp, I would have bought an AudioScape Buss Compressor as well!! Enjoy!

I bought this one a couple years ago I think. Never ever letting her go. Still my favorite hardware and I've owned a bunch of high end stuff. Either he knows what he's doing or he's the quintessential story of the "a blind squirrel finds a nut once and awhile".

Y'all are absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!! For the record... we sort of know what we're doing.... mwhahahaha. There IS a DEFINITE method to the madness!! The BUSS COMP took us about 2 years to fully flesh out and be the unit it is today (which fundamentally has remained unchanged since it's "release"). There are a few things going on inside (and LACK of a few things ::wink wink: that give it the personality, behavior and performance it's known for. A bit of secret sauce going on inside component wise, careful selection of CRITICAL components and honestly, ELIMINATING some things that affect sonics (but make building them "easier") in lieu of doing it the hard way. Which falls right in line with all of our other products. YES, we do things the hard way 9 times out of 10 but this results in the sonics, performance and quality of the final "thing" sitting in your rack. WORTH IT!!! Labors of love, all of them. Thank you all..... our AS FAM - for without you we truly would be nothing. ;-) Happy Holidays to all and to all a healthy, awesome, prosperous New Year!

Hmmmm...had one the first Stams, which I hated, and since a lot of people raved about it I figured I was not an "SSL" guy (whatever that is). Still might be the case, but has anyone compared the two?

I did. They were close. I posted my thoughts in a thread somewhere. I thought the stereo field on the Stam felt a little more collapsed comped to the AS. I didn’t like the meter action on the Stam. It was really bouncy. The Stam has chunkier switches. Felt like better components. I popped the top and the Stam looked like a cleaner build. I kept the AS and sold the Stam. I do have a MKII on preorder from Stam. Looking forward to comparing that whenever I eventually get it...

I had the stam 4K mki and the AS. Liked them both for different reasons, parked AS in my 2 bus and liked SA4k on my drum bus.
I felt AS sounds more hi fi, defined, more glue and a little richer, in a good way!

Got a D-Comp just kissing my drum buss right now. That thing is pretty interesting.

Got a D-Comp just kissing my drum buss right now. That thing is pretty interesting. Everyone on RGO is amazing. Serious. ;-) And YES! The D-COMP on Drum Buss is a particular place where it's unique sonority and compression action/behavior really shine. Truly nothing like it to be quite honest... the THWACK and POINT it's able to add to a source is pretty insane.... but I'm sure you already know this! ;-) and of course, the BUSS COMP is an AS classic... that thing has beat out many units costing 3-5x the price and have quite the pedigree - not that it really matters what the comparative cost is (I mean, it does to a great extent, but sonics over ALL ELSE is what we say) ! On a side note, our component selection is extremely meticulous and we source everything through USA distributors - from big, well known reputable companies (helps eliminate the likelihood of ordering a bunch of "look-a-like" Nichions or what have you) as well as small, much more specialized boutique suppliers who offer extremely hard to find, obsolete and/or NOS components & tubes. It's a lot of time/work invested to source and order from a multitude of part suppliers just to get everything we need for one particular product - but going this extra mile really has so so many benefits as I'm sure you can imagine. ANYWHOOOOOOOO! ROCK ON!

Stam MKI though that I spent three months getting repaired, ha ha.

My Stam mk1 pretty much only works smashing a rock drum bus for me. Other than that, the meter is weird, and def really isn’t the SSL Bus sound I was used to from using the consoles for years and years.
Looking forward to giving some Audioscape gear a try in the future!

I had some fellow RGOs (thanks!) run some of my own material through the Stam and AS when I was deciding what to get and I found the Stam to sound kind of weird. A little collapsed image-wise and congested in some way. I bought the AS and really dig it.

Looking forward to giving some Audioscape gear a try in the future! I have a bunch of original's here and it sounds and compress the same so there is definitely something not right with yours I am happy to have fix this for you at no charge or replace it with a MK2 I made several thousands of these and there were some issues with a few of them on a small batch so it is possible that yours is among them It's an easy fix if you would like me to take care of it
