Thinking about 1-2 fet comp racks, so I asked about discounts for multiple purchases.
They offer 10% off, minimum of 4 units, anybody thinking of building Hairball any time soonish ?
Thx.

I'm possibly interested. Been thinking about it for a while but am not sure about the build quality. I just don't have enough knowledge about them so far.

Others have built here, my understanding is that the parts quality is very good to excellent and that their build threads are fine too.
Svart, any quality issues with HB from your perspective?

Hairball has been doing this a LOOONNGGG time, as long as CAPI, or pretty close. Millions served.

I've built other kits of theirs. Quality is Top notch. Most of the big names in DIY are such as CAPI, Hairball, DIYRE. All top quality components and service. Don't let the low prices fool you. Parts are just that cheap.
10% is the same deal they do for the Black friday so that is good deal. Id be in for one but I can't swing it at this time.

2 Lolas and 2 Coppers here, so I can attest to the build quality of those being exceptional. I'm sure it's no different with the compressors.

Hairball’s customer service is great. I’ve built a couple rack and 500 series compressors. Any issue, they’ll answer. I had a FET/500 I just couldn’t figure out and they have a reasonable $100 flat rate repair service and they got it working

Pay the price, enjoy the service, don't worry about "low low prices."
I almost pulled the trigger but a Martin D28 came up on my purchase list, among other things.

So one free shipment per order. Pretty cool if they just happened to mis count a part or something.

I wish I hadn’t bought so much during Black Friday or I would probably be down to get another Rev D. I’ve got two Rev A’s and one Rev D and I think they’re great.

They will do a group discount. Their shipping is free in the us, but they want to ship to one person and they do the next distribution. I have a Myusaddress in Ogdensburg ny could ship there and then could forward to your actual address but the 2nd leg would be at your expense, which might be some large portion of the 10% discount so may not make too much sense ?

Yep. I've built a pair of Rev D and really like them. I also recently put Sowter output transformers in there for a little bit of a warmer sound (probably not as accurate to the originals, but they suit my tastes). They sound excellent.

Usually the Rev A’s are on snare, electric guitar, or rock vocals. The Rev D is usually on bass, kick, or if you want slightly cleaner tone on vocals. The Rev A’s have a little more noise which I guess is accurate to the originals but I occasionally have to switch to the Rev D to minimize it.

Btw in case you don’t know, you can save $60 per unit by ordering the partial kit. They supply a mousser bom and you just place two orders, one with HB for partial kit, the other with mousser: you end up with all the required parts, really nice if you are ordering more than 1 kit: a 10% savings.

As a meaningless aside, Hairball/Mike is in my neighborhood. I’ve been over there to buy/try a couple times. Really nice guy.

I have asked what cumulative discount is if you order 4 or more and get partial kits.

Update there isn’t a discount on the partial kits so no double dipping, but there is the 10% off with more than 4 orders and free shipping in the states, so about a $100,savings, but they would want to ship to one address so there would still be some shipping costs.

I've known Mike for many years, since early in his moving to the Seattle area. Have grabbed beers with him, have talked design and DIY and manufacturing and audio for years.
Super genuine, stand up guy, and runs his business for all the right reasons. Has been great to see him grow and be successful!
Regards
Jon
