Wasn't there a software hack to get old mac pros able to upgrade to current OS? Mojave or Catalina? I took my 5,1's (2) and upgraded them to Mojave from Yosemite last month. It was tricky. First, I had to boot into Sierra and flash the hardware. Then I had to put the computer and put in a newer video card, and re-boot into Sierra and Flash the hardware again when installing Mojave. Then it worked. It was also tricky, because I couldn't flash from an external drive. Had to be "inside" the Mac. Had my Mac tech guy send me a drive set up to do it. Then ultimately put in my own drives after all the hardware flashing. If you need someone to walk your thru it or provide the correct drives / video cards / etc., I can put you in touch. PM me. It's not something I'd do without guidance. But that's me....
