Looking for input on using Pro Tools Ultimate Native with Dante. This would include a Cheesegrater with PT 2019 & Dante Virtual Soundcard connected to a Dante interface via ethernet cable. (I know there's a limit of 32 simultaneous tracks.)

Might work. Ideally you'll dedicate one of the Mac's ethernet connections to be Dante-only. What Dante interface did you want to use?

You won't get the hardware acceleration benefit of ultimate. But if you don't need that then go for it.
Otherwise sell the Dante card and get a HDX card for the interface if it supports it.
If you don't use the HDX ports, no DSP. You can still use the software though which has some bells and whistles that's normal PT doesn't have.

Are you referring to HDX or Native?
"Otherwise sell the Dante card and get a HDX card for the interface if it supports it" There wouldn't be a physical Dante PCIe card. It's software based & called DVS (Dante Virtual Soundcard).
"If you don't use the HDX ports, no DSP" I want to use PT Ultimate Native & not HDX.

Yes but PT Native as in nust normal PT or Native as in you have a native interface like the pic card or the thunderbolt one? If you're just using Ultimate software then it'll work fine with anything be it Dante or USB or whatever. But if you're hoping to have DSP acceleration and ultra low latency that ultimate is known for, you won't get that without using an HDX interface like the Native pci card or Native thunderbolt connection.

I think it will work just fine unless you want a headphone out for tracking. Even without HDX, Dante latency is pretty low. But sensitive players might still notice.

Just not going to have the automatic delay compensation. Which if he doesn't want no biggie. Can even just build it into the aggregate io and use whatever in conjunction with the Dante stuff. Many ways to do it! Only one way for the to use all the potential of Ultimate though and that's using HDX interfaces and the HDX ports.

The best option is to interface with the Rednet PCIe card. I don't like the latency of the DVS driver.

"Even without HDX, Dante latency is pretty low. But sensitive players might still notice." Players will even notice back to back converters because the problem is comb filtering caused by delay and not the delay its self. The solutions are an analog headphone feed or removing the headphones and using speakers.
