Sytek. I have a pair of them; one has Burr Browns in channels 3/4. Really great for clean pres. Recommended! -09 Came to post the same. Used for like $600. Can't really beat that.

If you need ADAT with it and a one knob compressor, I really like the Tascam Series 8p Dyna.
For cheapish utility pres I really like the Yamaha MLA8.
This is generally what I'm using for drums.

Sytek. I have a pair of them; one has Burr Browns in channels 3/4. Really great for clean pres. Recommended! -09 Sadly the Sytek mpx4aii is no longer being made. I sold mine foolishly a few years ago to fund other gear. I spent 999 or so on it new in 2013 I think. 4 channels no burr browns. It never was much of a complete knockout on many sources, but darn if it just didn't work always. And on some acoustic sources where you wanted high slew rate, it had it. I have recorded entire songs with it on everything, and they always turned out so pleasantly. It won't wow you with its lack of sound in solo, but something about it was just nice and easy to mix and stacked well.
Anyway, I used to see them blown out for 500 bucks or so used. Wish I could get a set again.

Another vote for the Syteks. I prefer the non Burr Brown versions.
Cheers, Geoff

I also owned a Sytek and prefer the regular NE5534 or whatever they are channels over the burr brown channels.
Like I said earlier these days I use the Yamaha MLA8. They don't do "exactly the same thing" but they do the same thing for me.
The main advantage of the Yamaha over the Sytek is the glaring lack of pads on the Sytek. Helps a lot for drums.

Looking at the different flavors of your current pres I see a void of something fast and clean. SSL 9000 pres could be the answer. Hit Swart up for his last 4-channel SSL 9000. You'd be surprised.

The IAA EQ that I tested was the balls. Very well built and sounded great. I imagine the preamps are too.
