I thought this had its own thread but I can't find it. There's been some talk about the Rule Tec pultec plugin, and I finally demo'ed it. It's amazing! www.noiseash.com/rule-tec-eq1a/It's on sale now for 30 bucks. It really gave me the same feeling as using my Retro 2A3. If anything, I found that the Rule Tec was a bit more forgiving and "nicer" sounding, which is fine by me! I'm not saying it beats the hardware, but it really gives me confidence for those times I want to stay in the box or when I'm out of Pultec-style channels. I tried the big version with the filters and the midrange EQ but when I want a Pultec I don't want to think too much, so I went for the regular version.

I just picked up the $49 version last weekend and haven't had a chance to play with it much, but from what I heard so far, I'm impressed. I look forward to using it more.

I got the $49 version, too.
Anything that can go toe-to-toe with Nebula libraries for a fraction of the CPU and latency is all good in my book, LOL!

I'm also on the $49 Heritage Pro
this is "my pultec plugin" going forward from here, I think it's the best one I've ever used

Yup , a few seconds into demoing and you know its a winner.
Used a bunch of the presets in a pretty well final mix, each sounded improved but not in an artificial way.
Certainly recommend demoing it and at $29, I'd say no brainer!
Thx for the tip !

Has anyone compared these to the Pultecs that come with Pro Tools ... or the Wave Puig Tecs?

Waves Puig Tec and UAD Pultec are no match for Noise Ash Rule Tec in my experience.

The NART has something special to my ears too!

Folks don't forget the DDMF Neve Style EQ that was yaw dropping as well, or their Death Eye Compressor sounded beautiful wide and open. And the Karzog True Iron was a surprise too. Also wanted to check out the new boz audio plug ins but time is short at the moment.

This has me intrigued. I wonder what it brings to the table that my Softube Tube Tech plugins don't?

Try the demo: it’s a very good plug.

Ok, I don't buy plugs that much, just utilitarian stuff, but I got this one due to the reviews here and the low price.
I regularly do the Pultec "trick" with normal EQ by doing a low shelf boost and then use a narrow cut around the midpoint of the rolloff. I guess this will make it easier.

I got the single, but they will let you upgrade to the pro for like $23 I guess while the sale is on. The pro has more features and presets.
I'll likely upgrade to pro, for $23 extra: still a very good deal !

I have a strict UAD or Fabfilter rule...(to keep my workflow simple and really go deep on the plugins I do own)
So I was wondering how this would compare to the UAD Pultec collection?

I love UAD and FabFilter in general. I just never really had a bonding moment with the UAD Pultec. It just never did anything for me. From here on I'll be using the Noise Ash Rule Tec Heritage Pro. If you go to "the other forum" there are shootout threads you can do some back to back if you don't want to set up your own demo.

I had ua, I’d say this is better.
I am running it with ff eq3, best of both worlds: tone of pultec, precision and GUI of ff (plus dynamic and m/s, if you want: nice combo)!

Anybody check out their Neve console emu yet? No, but I really want to. I already have UAD 1073 and bx Console N, as well as the Arturia.... but hey, why not check it out!

Maybe this should be a new thread but has anyone tried the "officially licensed" Apogee pultec plugin?

I never connected with the UAD Pultec either. I have a few other Waves Pultecs, and they're not great either. I don't use them, but I miss the sweetening a real Pultec can give the high end.
