Am looking to add a set of JBL 4312's to my control room for times when I just want to be a fan again, and enjoy music as I use to before the engineering life took over. Anyone else here doing this already ?

Not right now, as my JBL 708P's are pretty fun to listen to, but awhile back, I had a pair of Audix Nile V's that I loved listening to. Very audiophile sounding - especially with the Pacific Innovative mono blocks I had powering them. Really fun and sweet speakers to listen to. Not quite up to the rigors of studio life though.... (blew a bunch of tweaters on them.)

I enjoy my pair of JBL LSR28p. Small room, they do a nice job of moving enough air to let me feel the music. There's still nothing like a great pair of mains cranked to a goodly volume in a great room, though. Once I heard that for the first time, I was spoiled forever. To me, the LSR28p sound like scaled-down mains, to an extent, while still doing everything near-fields are supposed to do.

Let us know how the 4312's work out. The room I'm in originally had 4311's back when it opened in 1978. I've considered getting some just for the history.

Klipsch La Scala (heavily updated/modified) are my fun set, and they're too big for the control room, so they live at home. Alt at home is some early 80's Advent 2 way.
I still have one good LSR28P, and it's been doing duty as a mono background listening speaker. Replaced those with 705P's and those are pretty fun to listen to also.

I find a pair of large 'fun' 3-way speakers very useful for tracking purposes. They aren't like hyped or anything, but far from super expensive clinical monitors.
It helps you focus more on the tones/groove of what you are capturing rather than obsessing over some minute noise/hiss/etc, that in the end probably doesn't even matter that much.

My main monitors have been Westlake BBSM-6s for over 20 years, but I think I've been having a little too much fun with them as the midrange driver surrounds have started to crumble over the past month. Not looking forward to doing without them as I attempt to get them reconed, but to be fair, all four woofers and both tweeters have been replaced over their life so I guess the mids were due.
