Interesting, how professional Bandcamp is with sales/ payment documentation: immediate emails, links to Paypal and $ in account in a day or so: nice.
I have had multiple sales on Apple never heard anything from it or seen any $: what’s up with that ?
Thank you Bandcamp!!

You should see in your aggregators account how much you sold and how much they collected by Apple. On top of that you get the royalties.

Ya, I only used distrokid for itunes as I didn’t want to stream, so that’s where Bandcamp steps in .

I hope Bandcamp ends up dominating the entire digital download world someday. It's such a great tool for independent and even signed artists. Much more control on our end too. It has more regard for the consumer, being able to choose the format you want to download, compiling your library on the app, etc... love it.

I can see on my yearly summery that streaming slowly turns to generate income. That's good for all of us.

Bandcamp has been good for me. I'm just a small timer but it feels adequate for now.
Interested in distrokid now, never looked it up until I saw this thread.

I used CD Baby for my first album. Been looking heavily at DistroKid of late for my upcoming album and maybe even moving my first album over to it.

Vincent, curious what motivates you to consider moving. I have clients in both camps, but I’ve not dug into it myself. I’ve had the impression they worked out to similar cost with CD Baby being more package and Distrokid being more a la carte.

Vincent, curious what motivates you to consider moving. I have clients in both camps, but I’ve not dug into it myself. I’ve had the impression they worked out to similar cost with CD Baby being more package and Distrokid being more a la carte. Flexibility. CD Baby will not allow me to name my price on 3rd party sites like iTunes and Amazon. It sets the price based on market value. If I want my tracks to sell for $1.29 like many do, I cannot specify that. I also cannot specify a release date. At least not the last time I checked. My original album may get pulled this year anyway. I recorded it with a lot of pre-recorded orchestrations. It’s sounds phenomenal, but has to be renewed every 3 years. The album basically pays for itself, but I don’t sell a ton online. My type of music means I sell a lot of CDs after my live performances. I may release a small digital EP of the recordings from my album that I own the rights to fully, just to keep them out there. I have a really great crossover piece called “Spanish Eyes” that I wrote as well as the Mario Lanza favorites “Be My Love” and “Granada” that have orchestrations produced by me or for me. My Christmas Album won’t have this issue, and neither will any of my future albums. The first one served me well though and I think it came out really good. Weighing my options.

It’s been a while and maybe things have changed. I’ll be in that zone early next year when I start prepping to release the Christmas Album. If things changed I’ll stay with CD Baby. I also need to look into a few things with my first album. I’ll let people know what I find out when I get there. If I’m wrong feel free to correct me. It’s actually on my list to give them a call when my son goes back to school and discuss all this with them.

probably my next journey... I'm not sure if it's right for my typical audience, but it won't hurt to try.
