RGOs.
PSP Oldtimer is more than a decade old and one of my favorite software compressors.
An exception to the rule for em.
Oldtimer acts and behaves a lot like hardware. Oldtimer is different, because its not modeled after any old classic compressor.
Using it on drum bus -wow - it fills the gaps and it still sounds smooth and open. Even if you need to squash something it sounds big wide open and lush, and never bad.
BK said good things about Oldtimer....and its seldom that BK s praises software:
19.99 instead of 99,- €

This is a no brainer. PSP makes great stuff—their Fet comp is top notch too.

I’ve always liked Old Timer too.

I was never happy with the most 1176 sims special the Slate ones. To my ears they do not hold the attack down and sometimes they behave nervous.
And the way Slate solved input and output knobs on the 76s is nothing but to complicate and a stupid scaleing.
I have to try the PSP one too.
EDIT: Another cool secret thing by not so famous companies are the Airwindows compressors.
Pywhacket Vari Mu ButterComp
At the time I use ButterComp on a ballad P Base track and it just was the right thing vs. the hardware.
Three of my often used ones also very interesting concepts and often they bring interesting things to the table. I think they are for free, but I am not sure ... I support Chirs via Patreon.

I use Oldtimer all the time. I love stuff that doesn’t require a bunch of tweaking to sound good.
I might picked up the limiter

Speaking of classic PSP, I still think Vintage Warmer is among the best tape/saturation plugs out there.

Love PSP but I have to be careful when using them in Pro Tools, they are not very stable.

I actually bought that too. Need to dig in more though but so far so good. Old-timer is good from the start though. So easy.

I've only ever used them in PT, for many years and versions, and never encountered any issues. I'll get an error message and the plugin becomes unresponsive or worst case PT crashes suddenly without warning. Not always but enough that I have learned to always hit save before adding or tweaking. It's too bad because I like their stuff, the E27 eq is great.

Some of these PT woes come down to Mac vs PC. PT is not as PC friendly for sure. But then again, you may be on a Mac for all I know.

I am on PC, Windows 10 Pro. The issues started when PSP started AAX 64 migration. RTAS was always stable.
PSP has been updating some of their stuff but it's been a pokey process although the recent update to FETpressor is an improvement.

Maybe they just need time and all is good.

I've bought quite a few things from PSP over the years. They sound good but I had to stop using them as they don't scale to my newer 2k monitor correctly. The interface is way too small now to work with. It's a shame because I have a lot invested in those plugins. I asked a couple years ago if they were going to fix it but they didn't seem concerned and simply offered a refund for Xenon after I bought it. I ended up keeping it anyway and have hoped they would resolve the issues. But, they have not as far as I know.
On a positive note: FETpressor is kind of a brighter version of an 1176, which can be handy ( though it was pretty CPU intensive NobleQ has a great top end, very smooth. Only drawback is the low end is a little pillowy when compared to other Pultech emulations Oldtimer is pretty nice and can smooth out a harsh source a bit. It seems a little like MJUC to my ears

I don't use PT but in Logic I can switch to a non animated user interface and use standard Logic knobs and faders. Maybe something like this exists in PT too. It would solve your problem with the graphics.
