I just bought 4 of these...... The engineering on them, is really great. It will allow me to move mics around the studio really easily, as well as remove mics to put them away. cheers Wiz

Looks strikingly similar to the Triad Orbit system.

I love the Triad Orbit system! I use them on everything in my studio. Moving mics is so easy. And they have so many great attachments for my grand piano, XY configs, all of their stuff has been great so far.

It's a quick release driver attachment!
Some guy just went to his tool box one day and had an eureka moment!

Hoping it was just a bad run over a period of a few months . . . dodgy metal and all that, because I am seriously interested in going that route!!

I’m pretty deep in the Atlas LO2B line...talk about an un-sexy way to spend $. The design is pretty old and not that great in my opinion...definitely room for improvement.
I use them on my tube condensers but I am HYPER vigilant about ensuring the little plunger is fully engaged in the QR attachment...and I usually loop the cable in a way that even a QR fail doesn’t result in a mic hitting the deck. I am super picky about who I have touching the mics partly because of this reason. You can use them on the RCA 77DX but NOT on the 44DX or the Melodium 42b. They’re just too heavy and you are asking for trouble.

I’ve used the atlas ones for years. Never had a problem with a 44... maybe I’ll stop using them for that one Working at a studio that doesn’t have quick connects for microphones drives me absolutely crazy. Who has time to sit there and spin mic clips around all day?

Who has time to sit there and spin mic clips around all day? I remember chatting with Clarence Kane or Wes Dooley (I can’t recall which one unfortunately) and they were saying that many of the repairs on 44s that come in have those little Atlas QR connectors on them I just took that info to heart and hand thread 44s these days. Good to know you’ve had success using them with QRs....damn those guys are heavy!

I think it comes down to not being a sloppy idiot - if you're not paying attention it's pretty easy to get the button misaligned with the hole so the lock doesn't engage.

Maybe these Gator Frameworks parts are OK. I just got back from a short set of shows and used some Gator Frameworks boom stands we had as spares. They are among the worst stands I've ever had. It's impossible to get them tight enough that the boom arm doesn't drop. Amazingly bad and I regret that purchase. rant over... Gator Frameworks boom stands to avoid

I couldn't afford the Triad system mic stands, but this looks like a good thing. Thanks for posting Wiz.
