Watched it many times. My love for the Focusrite sound has been contained by 2 ƒ220s, 2 ƒ428 Mark 1s and a pair of ƒ Red 6 Preamp/EQs. The Red 6 is by far my favorite all-round preamp. And I have a few dozen to choose from Is it the Preamp or the EQ (or the combination) that you like? The 4 channel Red 1 and Red 1 500 Series (which looks nicely made) are fairly reasonable used

The EQ section in it is from the Red 2 stereo EQ and is comprehensive and surgical if you need it to be. But can be subtly used also. I find it very useful on acoustic instruments and percussion, and even snares at times. The others, I guess everyone is more familiar with. The 428 Mark 1 is a HIGHLY underrated preamp because at the time of it's popularity it got the usual gearslut treatment for not having enough 'color' or 'character' when in fact, it was just more neutral - making it ideal for shooting out different microphones on the same singer. I have two of them, 8 channels, for this very reason. I can record a singer on 8 different microphones at once and be able to evaluate how the microphone relates to the vocal and not whether or not it's another preamp or performance making something sound better or lesser.

The Pres were high quality but I didn’t find them “exiting”. I’ve been told the original 110 channel strips were much more euphoric, I think they used different transformers?
