Have a friend that wants to get some sub $300 speakers. Anything even consumer that’s somewhat accurate?

Wasn't Jim Williams raving about some pair from Parts Express a while back?

Wasn't Jim Williams raving about some pair from Parts Express a while back? I think he's suggested the Emotiva Airmotiv B1s in the past.

How about the Kef Q150? They're on sale right now for $3 bones. Might be able to check them out at best buy.

I thought those Alesia Monitor Ones were totally decent for the like $100 they fetch on CL. Haven’t heard them for years and years though.

The JBL LSR305 are amazing bang for the buck. Hard to beat for cheap powered monitors.

I just bought another one of these subs to go with a pair of The Jbl 305 MKII. So dual subs and pair of 305s for about $650.00 www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=605999Powered by a Pro-jects S1 D/A Converter. Set up in Tube Trap Attack Wall. Sound field is like you're wearing headphones. You are in the sound and the sound doesn't change as you move around the control room. When you touch the tube traps you can feel them vibrate dissipating the sound. A very Unique set up. But either way the dual sub 305s, I think, can't be beat for the money. I have a pair of the Emovia B1 Speakers. ProJects S1 D/A into a Jim Williams Modded Adcom Gfa-555 power amp> 2-10" passive sub> B1s. They sound dull, Not first choice.

The new KRK Rokits are actually quite decent. Better than the JBL or cheap Adams in the same price range. A lot of DSP for room correction on the back. They sound like a lesser version of the new V Series which I preferred over the Neumann’s.

I will also recommend the JBL LSR305, I think they are excellent for what they are.
