Johnkenn, is it perhaps time to close this thread now? I deleted the unnecessary comment. Don’t know why we’d need to close the thread though.

In spring of 2017 Shannon fixed my Blue Mouse mic for a reasonable price. He told me he could completely re-do a mic to give it more of a 251 sound, which he thought was the best mic ever made. So I had him do that to my K2, which he did, and tuned it for my voice, for $900. It sounded great. I didn't think about him much until I drove by his house in January of 2020 and saw a for-sale sign. I was sad, so I searched the internet and found out Shannon had gone AWOL. Curious, I checked the real estate records and saw the house had been owned by Fatina Rhoades in Pennsylvania. In 2017 he seemed to be living with a young 20-something woman, so maybe Fatina is an ex-wife or sister or something (she's a little older than Shannon by internet people search). I wondered about his middle-aged acne and hyper personality. I'm guessing he has a meth problem. Anyway, that search led me to this forum, in search of a Nashville mic tech.
Apparently Dave Wheeler is that guy. Shannon had shown me his machine in the basement for making his own diaphragms. Did Dave Wheeler buy any of Shannon's gear, giving him the same capabilities that Shannon had?

Dave Wheeler seems hard to find. He hasn't frequented this forum lately. Does anyone know of a good tech in the Nashville area? Name and phone # please?

+1 on Richard Land. He called me about 30 minutes after I sent him an email last Wednesday. Very nice guy! I have 3 AKGs with him now, 414 TLII, 451eb, and a D12E. Really hoping he can get my D12E going!! Good to know he works on mics other than AKG. Please keep us posted on your D12e. I have a dead one and was told that once they go that’s it. Oops, I forgot to respond back to this thread. He said he tried everything he could but he wasn't able to fix my D12e unfortunately... The other two mics I sent him came back perfect.

Did Dave Wheeler buy any of Shannon's gear, giving him the same capabilities that Shannon had? Seems his family was paying the bill on that house. Its a shame about Shannon. A great talent gone missing, taking other people's stuff with him.

Dave's been pretty responsive to me. Not exactly turning repairs over in record time, but always gets back to me with an update.
I'm looking for someone who can fix vintage preamps - RCA BA31a. The guy I was using in NYC is not taking in anymore work. Mine were recapped and racked 5 years or so ago and one is now noisy. Any suggestions on US based techs who can answer their email/phone/text and don't take 12-18 months to get it done?

I sent him and email. Thanks!

Yeah, with the entire world cancelled all I'm doing is repairs. I specialize in vintage tube preamps, compressors, consoles, some basic tube mic maintenance, some early discrete SS. realgearonline.com/thread/6652/diy-restore-mod-rack-threadsHave recently restored and modified: a custom old rack with a Collins 356A tube preamp and a GE Unilevel vari-mu comp recapped and modified Gates Biamote and Dynamote tube preamps recapped Langevin 5116-B tube preamps recapped a Universal Audio 1016 tube preamp went through an RCA OP-6 and optimized noise floor. I have a purpose built external power supply and cable for powering these as if on battery power, helps to reveal if there's wiring or other internal power supply problems causing hum.....but it's gotta still have the original power connector to do that. For those, I can offer an external power supply, sometimes it lowers hum by 12 dB or more. The most interesting was reverse engineering the schematic for an RCA 55-B, then rebuilt it with attention to maintaining all original historical parts in place, nothing removed. Tweaked some absolute parts values for flattest average response.

Tim, I've been following Michael Aamon on facebook for a few months now. The things he does with some mics are amazing!

Here’s a message from Shannon.
Due to unforeseen circumstances and personal situations going on in my life Mic Rehab has not been in operation for the last year or more. Please know that I sincerely apologize to all of those people I have offended, let down and hurt, personal friends and business relationships. I am planning to make things right. Thank you in advance for hearing me out and for prayers, patience and understanding.

I think what he needs is an employer and someone who can help him personally. I hope, even if he doesn't get back into the business, that he can deal with his personal demons AND pay his debts to clients.

I’m not sure if the structure of an employer would help him thrive or kill him! But he does need somebody in his life who can provide guidance. I don’t know in what form it would have to take, but the man needs somebody who can keep him in the rails and avoid that third rail!
