I gotta say. It's pretty disappointing how no matter what thread, if Stam is involved be it feedback or new gear, alot of people here have the mob mentality and it disolves into what's happening now.
It's very annoying. I'm not a Stam owner but a potential customer. It's well documented on the wait times. I don't think it's necessary to bring up all this crap every time all the time.
Dare I say...it's very gearslutz of you all.
Let it go. Or start a thread where you can all rant and rave.
This one is about the 4000eq. Not bad la2as

The last thing I'd want is for this forum to remotely resemble "that other place". So apologies for my off-topic comments, and I'll take this as a chance to stay away from any further Stam comments. Let's keep the negativity away from RGO!

The criticism is absolutely justified. How would you feel if you had given your hard earned money a year ago and there’s still no end in site?? Continuing to announce new products is insulting. And honestly, your victim blaming is entirely more annoying.

That doesn’t negate my point about proportion, nor yours about specific failures. While you used a sweeping negative generalization about poor quality, the reality is the opposite, the large majority function properly.
My statistical point was about probability, prevalence and proportion. The probability is that all the gear we buy from everyone will function correctly. The possibility is that we could experience failures from any manufacturer.
None of us can conclude anything about equivalent proportion of failures as an example of competitive disadvantage, as we don’t have the data.
But, anecdotal data would seem to suggest that Stam is not at the top in terms of product failure, but as we don’t know companies’ specific failure rates, we can conclude nothing.
Guess who spent years working at Canada’s stats agency and at a crown corporation promoting improved manufacturing process control to Canada’s auto parts supply industry.
Anyway, I do recognize we all have our particular concerns and perspectives and I wasn’t negating yours: just putting on the probability glasses.

All I'm saying is if you don't like it. Don't participate. Don't give him your money. Don't give him your time. Don't give him your words or effort. There is no such thing as bad publicity. And i can't believe you of all people aren't tired if seeing every single Stam item thread dissolve into a shit show of people explaining their ideas on how his business is run and why it will never work and how much this and that and blah blah blah. I thought that was the whole point of the Stam delivery thread? All I'm saying. Keep it on topic. If you don't like it. No need to post. It's already been covered a lot by a lot of people how much they don't like it. Simple as that.

My Warm Audio Tonebeast and WA76 both ignite every time I use them, so I just keep a small fire extinguisher in my room and immediately put them out as I fire them up, literally. One finger on the power switch while the extinguisher is in my right hand at the ready...it works for me!

One finger on the power switch while the extinguisher is in my right hand at the ready...it works for me! I have a couple of STam audio pieces that function flawlessly. The only thing I've had catch fire in recent years is a stereo channel strip from Toft Audio (ATC2) which gloriously died in a huge puff of smoke. Nothing about the build quality of stam gives me ANY concern whatsoever. Design and build quality are his strong suits. Not concerned about any chinese built chassis or power supplies either as those are the same wherever you go as long as they pass inspection.

QC really is a mess. It’s not just about build. When I ordered my SA2A, I was told months after that I needed to pay $100 more for the better opto cell because they stopped using the other. That’s a quality control AND a customer service issue. I paid it on a promise of a massive discount on another piece of gear down the line (never panned out).
My SA2A came wired with the polarity inverted, as did many. That’s also a lack of QC, no?
I’d order one of these EQs, but I fear that by the time it ship, all of our ears will have evolved to the point of no longer recognizing equalization.

Your frustration is understandable, but I'd describe the "mob mentality" as people acting irrationally do to the influence/mood of the group. Which I'd say is not the case here. All of the complaints about Stam are well justified, and very rational. The issues with Stam are well documented and very persistent. As to weather those issues should be confined to another thread...well I guess I see your point...but it is what it is. I'm not a Stam owner either btw. I promised myself I never would be either, precisely because of his well documented issues with actually delivering product. (Not to mention some interactions I've read from him that just left a bad taste in my mouth). I am, however, constantly tempted to buy things from him anyway, but am constantly reminded why I was so turned off to be begin with. So in that regard the complaining does have some value to people like me.

My bus comp showed up with TRS jacks instead of XLR like it was supposed to be when I ordered. Left and right were also out of phase with each other. How THAT can pass inspection blew my mind.

I got 3 units directly from Stam, the SA-2A inverted polarity, the SA-47 inverted polarity, the SA-4000+ functioned normally. I tried a few other pieces via Reverb, etc.. and had no issues with them at all(SA-76, SA-87).

Is there a standard for polarity? I have two units from a well respected manufacturer that I have to flip the polarity on.

Supposedly the issue was swapped transformer wiring. Seriously how do these things pass inspection unless, I dunno, maybe there isn’t an inspection?
And I know it’s out of his hands but like, can Chile not open my gear up to look for lithium batteries? Or can they at least do it with the right screwdriver so they don’t strip the top of my screws?
