I'm quoting a poster at the UAD forum on Facebook: Chris Allen "There are so many things UA could do to improve the UAD user experience: Hide non purchased plugins Resizeable GUIs A/B for plugin settings Level match IO gain Shareable plugin settings Rack for multi plugin presets (like Soundtoys)
However, UA do NONE of these things - none at all. they just ignore all requests and keep pumping out more products to sell with no interest in helping their users (unless they can make đź’°from it)
UA produce stable and consistently high quality products but their lack of interest in improving the functionality of their platform drives me insane 🤯"

The thing is, I don't want a workaround, I don't want a third party solution, I simply want UAD to let me put my plug-ins in the order I choose when I go to instantiate one. They can keep their list of every plug-in if they want, just let me put my favorites on top or at least highlight them. The is just a no brainer. Look at the responses to my Facebook post to see what UAD users really think. So you've left me with nothing to say but "noted". It's not just him. The UAD library has become pretty vast. Going forward, this is a problem that just gets bigger and bigger as more plugins are added. I understand the desire for UA to keep the names of those plugins in front of us, but I concur with others who have said seeing the name over and over has never made me buy any plugin. Having them all in the list does nothing but cost me time. And this is coming from someone who owns 107 plugins (according to my account page), so it's not like I own a dozen and can't find them. It's a real issue.

Pro Tip: If you own UAD plugs and run a commercial room, remove the god damn unused plugins from the plugins folder. It wastes valuable session time pulling up something that's not authorized.

Just making sure everyone reading is aware that you can Hide plugins in Console that you don't own.
And for PT users, since Type Ahead was introduced, I haven't scrolled through a plugin menu in ages.
Regardless, lots of good feedback/ideas here!

One might argue if you own a commercial room with UAD you should own all the plugins - HA!!! also the handful of people I know who run commercial rooms are more than happy with paying clients “wasting” valuable billable time (at least one of them has followed the lead of Vegas and removed all clocks and without windows well... he’s a business genius!) Plugs are an absolute non-consideration for me in booking a room. And if you Vegas me I’ll just go somewhere less sleazy.

Drew, I use Logic. I only look at Console when plugging a mic in to add a little reverb for the vocalist to hear when tracking. Occasionally I'll print with a little compression.
When I go to instantiate a plug-in, Logic gives me a menu of plug-in manufacturers like Sound Toys, Slate, Softube and UAD. I click on UAD and a new side menu pops up with the list of UAD plugs for me to pick from. I then have to scroll around to find it, and sometimes I forget the name, like when I look for an LA2A and then remember it's listed under Teletronix.
All I ask is that when I finally see the UAD plug-in menu, I see my personal plug-ins first, and if that's not doable, at least have the plugs i've bought highlighted.
Thanks for being here Drew.

And if I'm looking for something specific, the search feature helps but sometimes I like to audition different things and I don't have a particular plugin in mind. This shouldn't be a hard problem to fix. In fact, I suspect the hardest part is getting UA to simply agree it needs fixing.

Yeah, I have a hell of a time finding the plugins in their categories in Sonar. It's kind of a crapshoot as to what category something is in or if it's just in an unspecified bucket. I dunno. Maybe there's an easy fix that I'm just not aware of.

Don't you use the Plugin Manager in Logic? Really simple to check off which plugins you do or don't want to see. And you can give them nicknames, so if you don't want to remember Teletronix you don't have you. The Plugin Manager also lets you create category folders and/or drag any plugin to a category you wish. I believe you can even have the same plugin listed in more than one category. If this is your problem, Logic solves this better than most other DAWs as far as I'm aware. I just go in Plugin Manager, search for UA plugins and check the USE box off for the ones I don't want to mess with.

My four Octo cards and two Quad cards don't have the Console feature. I love the UAD plugins I have, but there are so many that I have no need for and which I will never purchase, especially all of the guitar-oriented stuff ( since I am not a guitar player ) . Hiding the plugs I don't own has been in the back of my mind, but becomes more important to me as time passes.

Glad to be here Martin! As noted, the DAW is in control of what's happening in it, we can't do anything there. But luckily, as noted above, Logic has a plugin manager. See if that doesn't do the trick.

Drew, this doesn't address the basic question, why can't I organize my plug-ins? Why hasn't UAD set it up so we can simply put our plug-ins in an order we prefer or at least have a way to highlight them? At this point I think it's fair to say 99.9% of UAD users would welcome this, and thousands are annoyed by the way it's setup now. As a company that wants to build brand loyalty, keeping an annoying feature as is for questionable reasons is not a good way to accomplish that goal.
And what of the other issues Chris Allen mentioned? It seems UAD has refused to be at the forefront of the user experience and simply wants to make as many plug-ins as possible and keep that giant cash cow flowing.
Resizeable GUIs A/B for plugin settings Level match IO gain Shareable plugin settings Rack for multi plugin presets (like Soundtoys)
* Thanks sirthought.

Martin,
If you are talking about in Logic, then it's Logic that scans your computer for EVERY plugin that's in your plugin directory. If you don't want them in there, either take them out of the directory or use the Manager.
If you are talking about in Console and UAD Panel Control, then yes I'd say they should be able to flag which plugins are on your account. You can hide stuff in Console settings, but it's still a pain to sort through them, especially since you can't change their order at all. But that really has nothing to do with what you see in the DAW. I don't think any other plugin developer can do what you are asking, can they?
I totally agree with the other requests. That Soundtoys rack concept would be awesome, but ultimately hard to plan for since buying UAD stuff is so much more expensive to get the full collection.

As mentioned, we have no control there. In Console, we already have things organized into categories. The other ideas are all things we're aware of and appreciate the feedback on. Obviously we can't do them fast enough to satisfy everyone, but we chug along doing the best we can.

Do they have plugin manager type features as mentioned with Logic? Mixbus and Cubase do. Cubase's in now super extensive with searching and tagging and user preset plug in SETS...and a lot of stuff that make me think people have way too many plug ins...Mixbus is a simple kind of "show/hide" option... FWIW.
