Greetings.
I did a search for this, but surprisingly didn't locate anything; my apologies in advance if I missed it.
So: your favorite plugin EQ: what is it and why? Tracking, mixing, mastering; anything/everything.
TIA, -09

1) TDR Slick EQ M. Sounds great and is very quick and easy to use, it's the only digital EQ I use/need in 95% of cases. Am a beta tester for TDR.
2) DMG EQuilibrium. It is hands down the best and most fully featured EQ ever made, I think. But the sheer amount of settings, and initial time needed setting up different macros for differing scenarios, can make it quite bewildering for beginners. I use it in the other 5% of cases, or when I feel like or need to get super tweaky.
All for mastering. For tracking and mixing I would also have to add TDR Nova to that list.

I've been using the SoundToys Sie-Q quite a bit lately
Waves F6 has been getting plugged in a lot too. I don't own Pro Q3 that might take its place if I did.

I do use Soundtoys Sie-Q quite a bit...mostly on the 2 bus. For tracking, I REALLY like the Sonimus Burnley Neve 73 eq....I love how I can shape guitar tones with it and it is just easy to dial in. I have several IK eqs that I need to use more too.....

FabFilter ProQ 3 by a mile for anything precise. For general tone shaping I use the crap outta the Slate Custom and API EQs.

DMG EQuality or EQuilibrium are stellar. Fab Filter Pro Q2/3 as well.

Hdx user here, Oxford eq does nearly everything you could ask for. Equilibrium for the few things you cannot get from Oxford....

When someone asks me to pick a favorite I take it to mean - If you could have only one, which one would you choose? And since you mention tracking, mixing and mastering, I'd have to pick Pro-Q3 because it is extremely versatile, low latency, DSP efficient with excellent sound quality.

Digi EQ III is just fine by me. Love the Massey three band thing for mids on electric guitar.

Cubase’s Frequency for eqing out junk and Waves SSL channel for general tone shaping (I haven’t tried the Plugin Alliance 4K channel. I’m sure it’s great but I shouldn’t spend the money). Those two are on probably 90% of my tracks. I should branch out a little I guess.

Maybe it's a workflow thing 'cause they're just so easy to instantiate. The stock channel eq is transparent and great for surgical work and their newer offerings like their vintage tube EQs offer some vibe alternatives. It's taken some time (and maybe a few $ here and there) but I'm learning how to avoid going down plug-in rabbit holes. Hey, maybe the money I'm saving will let me buy some RL hardware.

Nothing wrong with stock stuff. I use the avid channel strip all the time.

The new Louder Than Liftoff Chopshop plugin is pretty darn good and I like its dial in-ness, so lately I could say that it is my current favourite.

I don't have any favorites really. Or at least that list is too big.
UAD Harrison, Fabfilter ProQ-2 or 3 have been getting use lately, UAD Helios is good, ack. I dunno. I just cycle through them every several months. Depends on the project. I'll use whatever.
Lets see, the UAD and Waves API 560 and 550s... the SSL and Neve consoles in UAD...
Etc.

That's sort of how I feel too. It's almost like buying wine or something, whatever strikes the mood. Funny though a lot of your picks are the same as mine.

Most of my EQing comes from the Reaper stock ReaEQ or the Softube Console1 SSL 4000E EQ.
Anything else needing a specific color gets Kush/Sly-Fi EQ of some sort. Hammer (that high-cut + 2db boost at 15kHz is awesome) and Clariphonic get the most use. Electra has been harder for me to use lately but when it's right, it's absolutely right. The low shelf is killer and the slightly resonant high-pass is killer, too. If I remember correctly our good friend from LTL had something to do with Electra...

I don't really use any plug EQ outside of the stock Masterworks EQ in DP, or repair types in RX7. I have others, and never use them. I haven't gone shopping for EQ plugs, haven't felt the need really. I've got plenty of hardware color boxes which is certainly an influence on that take.

It's kinda a tough call. I do most of my eqing with the BX SSL E on the channels and Auxes. Once in a while I'll use Pro Q2 or Equilibrium for some cuts. I always do a little eq with the Neve DFC on the master. Another one I might make a small move or two with is the Maag 4. I'd probably use the UAD Cambridge and Harrison if I owned them. On a lot of vocal tracks I'll run the Dangerous Bax and Museq in a sequence. Lately I've been using the filter on Phil's Cascade to great effect.

If I had daw stock eq for surgical stuff (although I use Fab v3 for this) I would pick a SSL 4k. Currently UAD & BX 4k E, I grabbed the new waves CLA thing, interesting workflow with that one, sorta.. I did notice it will bring your CPU to its knees pretty quick. I havent had a chance to try it yet I read its a cpu hog so I loaded up some channels and turned all the processing on 96k session and it crushed my computer. It better sound REALLY good. Also with its type of bucket workflow track freeze wouldnt be an option.

FabFilter ProQ3 and Softube Console 1 are getting most of my work now.
