I like having the complete kit since it really takes very little time to do the measurements and I redo my measurements any time I change something or reorganize something major in my room. I recently got new integrated argosy monitor stands for for my argosy desk and they have the isoacoustic feature on them. I found that even though the speakers were in the same place the calibration file was slightly different.

Disagree with Blackdawg. The difference is not subtle at all. Sonarworks mix had way better clarity and punch. Interesting. In my room, the original is much more lush and interesting to me the more I compare them. I am on Genelec 8351a monitors, which are brighter. The low end is noticeably tighter on the sonicW mix in my room. Pretty impressive.

I was a little shocked. I’m gonna try the calibration process a few more times to make sure but I went through the whole deal just as it says to.

Ha, congrats Ragan. That's a cool room to begin with. :-) You may really have only small improvement, but maybe this is, what makes it kind of really great?

Ha, congrats Ragan. That's a cool room to begin with. :-) You may really have only small improvement, but maybe this is, what makes it kind of really great? It's kind of funny. I've always just assumed I had a lot of issues because it's a small space but I'd never tested it's response. I guess I can feel good about all the hours I spent on treatment when I built the room. As for the Sonarworks improvement, I am really liking what I'm hearing. I was scrolling through kick drums last night and I've never heard so much low end nuance. Kind of amazing. Part of the reason I might be liking what I'm hearing so much is that the correction SW is applying isn't drastic. It's there though and it really makes things extremely revealing.

Anyone else using PT hardware inserts with SW? Ever since getting SW going, my analog IO in Pro Tools are all gone except for channels 1-2 (my monitor outs) which are now labeled as Sonarworks outs. I messed around a little last night trying to get the rest of the IO back but didn't have any luck. Johnkenn are your PT hardware inserts still functional with SW running?

Is your playback engine still set to your soundcard/interface? Then just insert Sonarworks plugin on the last insert of the 2 bus. System wide is something else entirely.

That's definitely good work you put in, better than mine and I thought I did good. I'm in a similar place where the only peak above 3dB is around 100Hz. I've noticed Sonarworks works best for me on things within about 4dB so I've been thinking of trying those tuned traps from GIK, anybody mess with those?

I didn’t realize SW takes over as playback engine. So what’s the best way to be able to still toggle back and forth between reference tracks and the DAW? I assume if I’ve got Systemwide on and the insert in PT I’m doubling the EQ.

Well the way I've been doing it - which totally might not be the right way lol...I select Sonarworks as the output in sys prefs/sounds...and then in Pro Tools, I just keep the Apollo the playback engine...and add the sonarworks plug in the last insert. Sometimes, I'll keep it off just to get gain staging correct - because the headroom thing is weird.

Because the correction the software is applying could be say a 6dB boost, you have to allow for the headroom to accomodate that boost. Most of my mixes are peaking at around -14dBfs pre correction software. cheers Wiz

Can't get speaker measurement to complete:drag. I send my symphony outs to a separate integrated amp so the software may not like that. You used to be able to manually measure and drop in your speaker distance Ref 4 doesn't seem to let you do that, so stuck till I hear back for customer support: tedious

So, I plugged my symphony outs into the amp driving my monitors and still can’t get speaker distance measurements to complete. No fun.

I am just getting stuck at the 2nd phase of setting up, so mike gain is good and then there is a test where you put the mike very close to each monitor as it does the chirping sounds so the software measures how far apart your monitors are.
So, this stage doesn’t complete so I can’t proceed. Earlier versions let you manually put in the distance, e.g., 48 inches or what ever, but the current version doesn’t seem to have that override function.
So, I have to wait to hear from CS,then some back and forth: tedious:)

Yeah I’m not getting it either. SW shouldn’t know or care what’s driving your speakers. It just needs to be set to the right DAC (Symphony) outs right?

Yup:), the green circle gaugeget’s to about 5 o’clock, then seems to restart, this cycles and never completes for a few minutes, then there is a pop up,indicating there is a problem, and to check settings, which I have done multiple times and or to contact support now also done.
