That sounds exciting, Eric! It's good to know that you've gone the extra mile to make these preamps as sweet as the originals. I love supporting companies that have this level of attention to detail. Can't wait to get mine and use it on a session I have planned for the coming months.
Happy holidays, Brad

Mine lands Wednesday. I can't understand why there isn't more talk about these. 72s are supposed to be killer right? I'm pumped to add this flavor.

Indeed. Small company that's relatively new. New product. There are a lot of reasons, but long term - Locomotive and Weight Tank will make their mark. These pre's sound killer and I'm excited to have them.

People here are probably turned off by the quick met deadline, excellent communication, also respect and appreciation of customers. Lol, looking forward to it.

I'll definitely be grabbing one or two if they pulled this off (which I really believe they have if they say they have, great company!) I just want to have some folks that know these pre's confirm. All the sound of these pre's are in the tubes and in the iron, especially the plate choke bit. I've heard a few clones, some even saying they match up but totally omit the plate choke! Plus, all of the clones I've heard don't have that creamy, silky tone. On acoustics there isn't a better amp out there. Also, if you've got the right mic for your voice these really do add something others out there just can't add, gorgeous mic pre's, my #1 favorite. Not too shabby on bass and across a drum buss either. I'd be getting them for running acoustics and vocals into that need that silky creamy thing.

I’m curious how this would sound next to my Tab Funkenwerk V78M. That pre is really special.

I got mine today and immediately dropped them into a mix on line input. Put them on a pretty pinched mandolin and they immediately opened up the track and seemed to let it breath more. I went ahead and hit it harder and it did the typical transient shaving thing on the sharp mando transients, but still stayed open and fresh sounding up top. I was getting a lot more RMS level, with the sound blooming out and becoming fuller - even when I RMS matched. All was good, so I kept pushing until they wound up distorting,:lol: but even then, they didn't get "nasty, nasty".
I wanted to push em a little harder though where I could put it to good use, so put the other one on Electric Bass, and I could easily drive it into a wonderfully euphonic breakup / distortion that was appropriate for the southern bluesy americana tune I was working on. Can't wait to drop em in with the WT Varimu and see what happens. That will be THICK!
I don't even have 10 minutes on the tubes yet, and I know they will only get better. Quite happy with the purchase!!
Overall I'd call them "alive" and "open" sounding - but I really don't have enough time on them yet to completely understand their personality. But they are a welcome addition to the API, Neve, LTL and D&R pre's I'd been using.
Well done Eric & Weight Tank!

Using mine on a session today. M57 came by and played some Taylor acoustic and Hammond organ on a tune. Used the Manley Gold into the WT-72. Sounding great so far. More updates later...

Here's an update for y'all. This weekend and last I had a dude in studio working on an RPM Challenge project. He was up here from Alabama on business. His goal is basically to quickly write and record some tunes during the month. Get his mind off work, have some fun playing some music, and collaborate with others. Anyway, he had a few co-workers pop through the studio, I played some parts, and M57 came by and played some parts. Basically everything we recorded was 1-2 takes. Just out an idea and bang it out. The folder below has a few rough clips that we recorded. The acoustic is a Taylor played by Mark. Manley Gold about a foot out from the sound hole > WT-72 > MOTU 24AI. No compression, no processing. Track labeled Tony is a cat from Georgia singing. Manley Gold > WT-72 > WT Compressor > MOTU 24AI. Nothing in the box. Manley and Flea (my horrible vocals, don't judge) tracks are the same WT-72 into WT Compressor at the same settings. Unplugged the Manley, plugged in the Flea, ran another take to double the track. Shrugus is a quick mix of the full tune using the above Manley / Flea vocals (panned doubles) along with a harder take as the lead through the Flea/WT-72. drive.google.com/open?id=1LAf5CU8hiJoWmtrW0hywksJ4atCqhI5w

These tracks are great. I really like hearing male vocals. Shrugus 2.5 is a banging mix! Everything is hitting hard. That acoustic sounds good too, it reminds me that the WT preamp is about the same price as a UA Solo 610, maybe even cheaper at the brand new price. The big bonus for me besides the sound would be it's a rackmount. I wish I had the bucks for it. I'm tube dry in terms of mic pres.

I don't think this style of music really tickles the fancy of most cats here. haha. Probably not the best showcase of the preamps, but it's what I had from the first session with the unit. I'm sure I'll have some more "normal" stuff posted soon.

Of note : The WT-72's run SUPER cool. I've had em on idle all day (outside a rack though) and I can barely tell they are warmer than the ambient air temp in the room. They feel cool to the touch.

Thanks to Robert and Jesse jcoutu1 for supplying the photographic evidence! That is one QUALITY build! Very tempting. I need V72 and V76 preamps.
