Is there a standard for which wire is + or - in a multipair cable that follows resistor color code for one of the wires? Like Canare/Mogami/Redco.
Realized I switched to pin 2 being the clear and pin 3 being the color. Not sure why, but in my head that makes sense and that's how I have been wiring all my cables and patchbays. I bought a bunch of pre pinned elco cables from DrBill and all his cables we're color is pin 2, clear is pin 3.
I know it really doesn't matter as long as both ends are the same. Just got me curious.

There is no standard for this in commercial audio, unfortunately.
I think most snakes have one color that's common between all channels, and the other is whatever color they decided on for that channel, and most wiring jobs I've seen use the common color for "cold".

Yeah... It's funny I just repinned a bunch of E90's for the pachbay. Currently reorganizing for the console add on, and my older set of cables I did the more standard way: color is +. The new ones I just finished I did the opposite: - is color. Not sure why or when my brain switched and thought it made more sense.

Yeah in live world this is a common headache, you might have one guy in the field or in the shop who wires one way, or a snake from a different manufacturer or bought used that’s wired differently or worst of all your out on a gig. There’s a problem so you open up the stage box and find a bunch of jacks wired one way and a bunch wired another. Been there done that. The only thing worse is multi pin connectors and speaking. If only there were standards people actually followed.

On Mogami, the color is hot (+) the clear is neutral (-) and the shield is ? ? ? Depends on whatever heat shrink was used. Hope those cables are working out!!!

Bill, what pin out did you use for the E90s? Just out of curiosity. I have to repin for the bittree layout. So far everything has been great.

Custom pinout. I can take a pic, but you will almost certainly need to depin and republican tobittrre. I know. I’ve had to do it several times as the bittree is different. Good luck

I was just curious if it was for a specific brands pinout. Been making headway since I blew out my knee and have not worked this week.

Thanks. It bent sideways. But it is healing up pretty quick, luckily I did not tear anything.
