Good review seawell ! Thanks. Just curious, would you mind describing where you had the mic placed for the mono drum sample? Thanks! You can see in this pic where that mono room mic is usually placed, just above/in front of the kick. It's the Flea in this pic but in the examples in the video I had them both set up at the same time. Looks like a really small room?

I tested out the Stam & Flea side by side on drums, acoustic and vocals: That was very well done and I'm sure it will be helpful to a lot of people.

It is, but not quite as small as the pic makes it look(it's zoomed in to focus on the mic) 15 ft ceilings though so that certainly helps!

When I was on the hunt for a mic there were a bunch that were helpful to me(including some from our very own Vincent R. here) so hopefully I can pay that forward a bit.

Great video seawell. What the heck is up with the polarity switch? That is bizarre!

Great video seawell . What the heck is up with the polarity switch? That is bizarre! Thanks Vincent! I enjoyed your videos on the RMS mics in particular, very helpful! I'm not sure as to what was causing the polarity issue. I know some others had the same issue with the SA87 and the fix was to swap the wiring for pins 2 & 3 but with the 47 having the the different tube mic cable it wasn't anything that I felt comfortable enough to try and fix.

Wouldn't you just switch the pins on the output jack from the power supply? Seems like the easier option.

I tested out the Stam & Flea side by side on drums, acoustic and vocals: Great great shootout. Differences were obvious. What capsule do you have in the Flea ?

I really wonder how much of a difference it makes between the F7 and a thiersch...

I tested out the Stam & Flea side by side on drums, acoustic and vocals: Thank you very much. Two great mics. I think I will be very happy with the SA-47 when it arrives.

Yep just switch the pins on the XLR cable or more easily use the polarity switch on the pre if it has it or as a last resort because you can't audition in real-time, invert in the DAW. I've an SA 87;which I like a lot and it has reverse polarity relative to my km 84 so it can be a trap for young players. Cheers, Ross

I do prefer the Flea in each instance, but the Stam is pretty darn good especially considering price. Thanks for the comparison.

The results for the guitar and particularly the drums in this video make me wonder about the SA-47F. If it has that kind of beefy low end, for $600 it could be a nice instrument Mic to have around. Maybe throw it on kick. Anyone one here have one?

Thanks If you want one with an EF12 tube like the Flea it can be done for an extra 1.000 USD, It is a simple modification. I think it sounds great with the EF800 already and it's almost 3 times cheaper, My SA47 is actually identical to my original U47. I love how the Flea sounds here as well. Great mics

I personnely thought one could get the SA47 and change the capsule for an F7 if he wants to get closer to the Flea sound and still be way cheaper than buying a Flea.
