Hi All,
I have looked through the site but I don't see any thread for the SA-47. It's a new build and is just starting to ship.
I ordered one yesterday. Not sure what place on the list I am but looking forward to getting my hands on this.
Did anyone here order one and get it already?

I had one for a couple of weeks. It really is a stunning mic! I had a chance to compare it side by side with my Flea 47 vintage and I wouldn't have had an issue going with either one. They didn't sound identical but they definitely have that same special vibe that the best 47 style mics do. The Stam has a really sweet top end which was great as some of the 47 clones I've tried over the years were a bit dark for my taste. My favorite application for the SA47 was as a mono drum room mic. Side by side with the Flea, the Stam almost sounded like it reached an octave lower, it was crazy the amount of low end it picked up from the kick, massive! I preferred the Flea slightly on lead vocals(which is where I'll be using it most) and is the main reason I chose the Flea.
Now if I can just get a refund for the SA47 that I returned 11 days ago and counting now.....that would be awesome 👍🏼
*update...refund received, thanks Stam

seawell , that’s exactly how I felt when jtc111 brought his FleA 47 to my place. That it was really tuned to be an excellent all around vocal mic. I had used a Wagner U47W on a session and found it to be a much more specific sound, albeit it had a much bigger low end...., but also had a VF14, which accounts for that. I actually prefered the FleA on my voice. I also owned the Peluso 2247SE for a few years. Although it’s a good mic with 47ish qualities it’s just not in the same league. Sounds like the Stam is in the league though, just a different shade of 47.

Sounds like the Stam is in the league though, just a different shade of 47. It sounds like we've had a similar response to the Flea. There is something special about the Flea that the Stam approaches but doesn't quite reach in my opinion. It's that magic harmonic richness that a great 47 has that puts the Flea over the top. There have been other mics I've owned in the past that sounded great but weren't that great to sing into(from the singer's perspective). Some have that feeling of singing against a brick wall I guess is the best way to describe it. The Stam was definitely a joy to sing into and really moves with you instead of you feeling like you're fighting against it. Hopefully that makes some kind of sense haha...I'll check at some point and see if any of the clips I recorded when shooting out the Flea and Stam are worth sharing. I do remember the one source I noticed the biggest difference between the two was on Acoustic Guitar. The Flea was much more mid range forward on that application.

This gives me some hope that the fully tricked out SA-67 I have on order will be worth the money ...when it arrives sometime in 2021 or whenever.

Hi Jim,
What does the "Fully tricked out SA-67" mean, ,..are you referring to the stock SA-67 mic available to order on Stam's site or did you order a modded version of the stock one?
Thanks!
Mike

Considering the price difference between the Stam and Flea, that's actually quite impressive. I would be happy enough as more of an instrumentalist with the Stam I think. Hmmmm

That rumor has been around for years. It may be true that they are, but it's a long time coming. That can be true of any boutique shop! Yes, and I wasn't criticizing Flea. I own a Flea 47 and it's my best and favorite microphone. I'm just saying that if anyone is waiting on a Flea 67 to hit the market, it may never happen. Other than the Flea Next line, they haven't expanded their offerings in a long time.

Good review seawell! Thanks. Just curious, would you mind describing where you had the mic placed for the mono drum sample?

Good review seawell ! Thanks. Just curious, would you mind describing where you had the mic placed for the mono drum sample? Thanks! You can see in this pic where that mono room mic is usually placed, just above/in front of the kick. It's the Flea in this pic but in the examples in the video I had them both set up at the same time.
