Still enough to let me do a hundred snapshots of mixes for a band sound, if it's my own. <sigh> It's hard to care less, if it's your own music. Yes. I obsess, I admit it. I'm at 96 mixes for one of our songs. Ninety-six. Makes me relate hard to the Beck song, Loser. And still, my drummer wants it louder.

Oh, that's interesting. Actually, i mixed around 30 mixes afterwards, triggering the kick and layered with good samples of similar kick model, and guess what? I compared to the mix you heard, Dan, and the drums sound better in the old one. So the drum sound is near to final in what you heard, with no samples involved. But for the rest there is still more room for improvement, and i tested a lot afterwards, and hopefully can bring it to a better final product. If only my band colleagues would have more time to actually RECORD. LOL. All under 30, all married, all have jobs, children, houses and what real life has to keep them from beeing in the rehearsal room too often. Hard death metal guys in 2018. They don't party and do drugs and nighlife anymore, like we did in the 80's and 90's. <sigh> They are a lot more conservative than previous generations.

Yeah the drums sound nice and tall from what I have heard. There is always that competition between the drums and the guitars in the high end.
Under 30 jobs, houses, marriages, childrens, that sounds crazy to me!

Part of my issue is I just changed drum software from BFD3 to Superior Drummer 3. Set me back a lot. But I think it will be better in the end, and easier to mix once I get a grasp of the very different approach SD3 takes. That's interesting about 21st century heavy musicians. Definitely not true in my case, back during the same period. Drugs/alcohol ruled. Today, my mates and myself could in no way go on the road to support our music. One, we physically couldn't take it, and two, there's no possibility of walking away from lucrative careers. We figured it out one night, we would need a band advance of five million USD to give up our jobs, because we wouldn't get them back. So, no. I mix for fun. Sort of.
