Apparently, you're not bad to the bone. Maybe just bad in the flesh? Or, dare I say, not bad at all? Haha

Apparently, you're not bad to the bone. Maybe just bad in the flesh? Or, dare I say, not bad at all? Haha Exhibit one: IMHO, his performance has moments where it borders on the embarrassing. Chuffed/choked notes, poor timing, and he sounds out-of-tune/sings out-of-tune. And I'm pretty sure he plays slide/open tuning, all the time. It's bad when a player can't get his open-tuned guitar to sound in-tune. At 4:52, he attempts to sing "Beer" and almost doesn't pull it off. Weak. How could this be the best take? If ever a guy needed auto-tune , here it is.

I was just razzing ya though man. I'm not some huge Thorogood fan or anything.

I'm not some huge Thorogood fan or anything. No worries, and definitely no offense taken! I have seen him perform live twice, and each time he failed to impress me whatsoever. In fact, he sounded like his records, which is not necessarily a good thing, as we have seen. IMHO he proves that attitude can trump lack of skill and yield a successful career. It did for him, anyway.

...Caution, thin ice...... (Rush? Clapton? C'mon guys, what's next? Beatles? Beethoven? Bach?) :-D Clapton has some great records and some abysmal ones. He followed his nose, I guess I don't really like Bach. I don't get Pink Floyd at all. Piper is a cool record, but stuff like DSotM is boring to me. I listened to Electric Ladyland last week and didn't like it, either. Anyone need any sacred cows bled?

When I hear Steve Perry or Adam Levine's voices I want to go on an axe murdering spree..... So Journey sand Maroon 5 for starters.... Early Journey was amazing, before Perry came into the picture. Neal Schon was already a monster when he played with Santana. The first Maroon 5 album was amazing. Saw them at a small club and it was one of the best gigs I ever saw. About 300 people in the audience. 15 million albums sold later, I saw them again. One of the worst gigs I ever saw. What happened to that great band? My vote goes to: AC/DC I mean, come on, really...

What happened was that they discovered the formula for ridiculous commercial success which, more often than not, sucks any soul out of the resulting product.

I'm gonna get railed for this one...but Kris Kristofferson...I just don't get it. Songs are just ok, can't sing, acting is bad...what the hell is it?

Jimmy Buffet and Porter Wagner. Neither could sing a lick. R I agree about Jimmy Buffet. He's my pick for artist's I don't get. I wouldn't let him sing in the church choir. His is more of a persona than for artistry I think. Slackers and weed heads love him because he's made a career of advocating slackism.

A generation related to him because he was mediocre like most people are. I find it remarkable that some so called stars are selected to be stars by the masses because it's almost as if mediocrity needs a spokes person. Enter Roseanne Barr right here for a perfect example.

Bob Dylan. I guess I'm just a bit too young, but I don't get the whole beat-poet thing, and how he - or any one person - could be seen as the "voice of a generation", or whatever they called him. OK, he wrote a few good songs (maybe even great ones), but as a singer . . .
As cowboy says, perhaps it's the persona thing at work here. Seems to be at work a lot these days, given the range of "talent" currently in the charts.
