Ooh. Skip to the end of this video. Looks like BLUE is finally coming out with new Bottle Caps. From the sound of it, B9 is their Sony C800g, B10 is their M49, and B11 is their U67. I could be wrong, either way the B10 & B11 sound right up my alley.

I can’t believe they are going to charge $1000 to allow you to choose a different color for your BLUE bottle. That pricing is overkil.

I found myself speaking out loud, saying "WHAT?" when he mentioned that. Kinda blew my mind.

Yeah, even the Sound on Sound guy has a look on his face like, “are you kidding me?” They should have included some transformer upgrade or something at this cost.

Wonder what Macco would charge if you showed up with a disassembled mic body ? They will do a car (kind of ) for less than that!😎

I think if Bentley Designed the head basket, body and grill of these mics I’d feel more inclined to purchase them..lol. This is one company that I have never tried, I just felt that it was all marketing hype. Guitar centers flavor of the month along with Mxl, Sterling...I’m not knocking the product, just never heard them

I will say that I’ve enjoy the Bottle Rocket Stage II I’m kind of itching to try the Big Bottle. Either way the B10 & B11 are pieces I will probably pick up.

Seems to me that back in the day, you could get the Bottle in different colors. I bought a used one sometime back and it is Grey in color. When I enquired about it with Blue, they said you could them in different colors during their early runs of the mic. Looks like I own a vintage custom shop Blue...WhooHooo.

I’ve seen a few go up on eBay that were different colors. I’ve definitely seen a black one and green one (same color as the Kiwi) up on eBay.

Side question . . . why did BLUE go out and buy up all those U47s and U48s back 20 odd years ago and tear them apart and put new electronics in them? That alone destroyed any faith or trust I might have had in BLUE

I am not sure what the story is with the Blue 47s but the Bottle is an excellent mic that holds its own with mics of the high end caliber. I own a FLEA 47, Microtech Gefell UM92.1 and the Blue doesn't suck in comparison.

When I can, I want to try out a the Bottle and see if I think it's worth upgrading at some point down the line. We'll see.

The Bottle with the B6, B7 and B0 (those are the caps I have) covers a lot of territory though these new caps are intriguing as well. You can get pretty decent deals on a Bottle used these days which is the route I went. It's one of my go to vocal mics and it never sucks on anything. One thng to keep in mind, it is a massive mic that requires a serious mic stand.

That alone destroyed any faith or trust I might have had in BLUE I don’t know, and have heard many explanations from some well regat people thought they knew what they were doing to most of the mics they “ restored “ were examples from behind the iron curtain and were already pretty screwed up all ready. But all I can say is run as far away as you can from anything that says restored by Blue!

I researched the Blue 47 because of this thread. Seems to be a mixed bag on what owners feel about them with most seeming to like them for what they are. I would buy one if the price was right, knowing it is not a 47 but something in the family so to speak.

I believe their cactus is similar to their 47, but I haven’t used either. I’ve heard great things about the Cactus and wouldn’t mind a chance to play with one.
